heat exchanger wars

I am considering buying a heat exchanger within the next week or sooo. I have seen the CX Racing Heat Exchanger and the Cobalt-Addticion. I have noticed that the CX one is quite large and people are having problems mounting it. Has anyone had problems with the Cobalt-Additction at all?

Lets say the price doesn't matter, I just want to know the pros and cons for both heat exchangers and if there are any better ones.

Get the CX one, it's HUGE.

Size does matter.

Cobalt addiction one fits perfectly, comes with great brackets and the right lines, and looks great on the car.

Does one or the other get full boost quicker? Can I run a smaller pulley on one or the other?

Any more opinions?

boost has nothing to do with the h/e. You can run a smaller pulley on either, but remember, the more cooling mods, the happier #4 is.

Yeah I just wacked the stupid nipple off the front and got mine to fit once I made sure it would fit before drilling the different holes etc. Just rig it up with a floor jack and take a permanant marker and mark where your going to drill etc. It looks like money behind my new grill.

wasn't really a problem, but i had to cut a rectangle hole out of my bumper support with a dye grinder to get it to hang where I wanted it.

depending on how much your willing to spend, I have a bigger heat exchanger that I can stencil words on for you, it will be just like the one on my car in my gallery, i had 2 made, it comes with brackets and you wont need to remove the bumper, just mark and drill the holes and your good to go

check my vb garage and you will see the specs and a picture of the true size, it fills the whole grille and you can see the stencil i did for mine

cruising around yesterday by the way my iat 1 temps were 88 and the iat2 was 97, mike at new era has logs of it on the dyno as well and if you call him he will tell you how well this things cools compared to the others he has seen

Will give me a little guidance on the install?? If you can help out a little, I can paypal you this week with shipping at paymeny. Let me know.
brackets are already welded to the HE, all you need to do is match drill the holes in your support, DONT take the bumper off there is no need.
I will help with any suppoort you need. I will include my phone number in the box. You will see its so easy, the fitting are on at a 45 degree and angle out the sides so it directs the hoses right around your stock HE with no issues at all, Also for a small fee I will stencil words in what ever color you want, I can do logos to no problem.

the HE mounts flush to the bottom of the bumper support

Afco also makes one, would that be the same piece rebranded?

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

It's a bit cheaper than the CA one, as well.

Me personally... i think the cx racing is over kill.... as in its going to mess with the flow of the coolant.... its such a large area that the pump isnt going to get a good volume of flow thru it... I like my cobra h/e and it net me a 30degree drop under WOT conditions on a otherwise stock cooling system

the pump is plenty powerful enough for the cx and the one I designed, what slows the fluid is how large the tanks are on the sides of that CX racing heat exchanger, thats why in the one we designed we shrunk the tanks, the fluid doesnt slow at all and i saw way better temps on my larger one then i did when i had the cobra, i still have the cobr sitting on my garage floor. I dont see nearly as much heat soak either, my temps take much longer to rise now when sitting at lights

im trying to figure out what sort of gain some of you are looking for by doing this. because frankly, you're killing the pump.

the pump is not being killed at all, all you have done is changed the fluid capacity of the system and put the cooling in the very front, once the system is full and free of air it takes no more to push the fluid through the system, when you add large tanks on the heat exchanger and create a dead spot or a slow spot then you kill the system thats why the cx has its downfalls

the pump itself is only designed to move so much volume.

remember the cobra's have been upgrading theirs aswell for years now with no issues on the pump side
