Heat Exchangers

Do Heat Exchanger do anything else besides lower temps. I know that is a major issue but do they add any power also. I know intercoolers do. If so what kind of power increases might you see with say the CA one.

i dont know but I have the cobra HE and my third gear pulls alot harder than it use too on the highway. Honestly I felt more of a power difference from the HE then i did with the header/downpipe.

They lower air temps, reduce knock, look cool, and leak if you're lucky.

You'll see more of a power increase if you have it tuned.

Forgot to mention: The car does pull a lot harder with the heat exchanger doing its thing.

I think you have to be modded more than stage 2 to get the benifit of the he upgrade. ie smaller pulley and tune. just my 2c.

A larger or additional HE allows for better/faster cooling of the coolant. The colder the coolant the less chance of detonation and the ability to advance timing and/or use lower octane fuel. It won't do much for a stock setup, but when using smaller pullies (particularly smaller than Stage 2 {3.0"}) the coolant can be easily overheated and actually work as heater rather than a cooler under low/no boost situations. Larger or additional HE's will help dissapate the heat at a rate that prevents the system from being over loaded.

you may be running a bit cooler. therefore, you may see a slight increase in performance. really though, you are allowing for a more aggressive tune (because of better cooling efficiency)

Where is the cheapest place to find a cobra HE? And will the cobra dual pass HE from lightning force performance fit behind the cobalts? Any help would be great.

Search Ebay or browse around the SVT forums. I hooked Waylin22 up with one from a guy I was talking to on the SVT forums that had upgraded his.

Not sure if the Lightning Force Performance one would fit or not, but they were suppossedly working on one for us a while back.
