Help asap

Car has been sitting for awhile, took the cover off today to run it, and wont start.

Sounds like it wants to start, but wont. Thought it was a dead battery..but it wont charge or jump off. ideas?

How long is "A While"?

Bad gas? You need fuel, spark and air. Start eliminating.

-40? Does Nashville get that cold? ha.

That sounds PCM related then. Try resetting it? Take off your negative cable for 10 min or so. Any CEL's?

Joel

Haha Dezzie, great minds think alike eh. .

If the headlights work, it cranks over and sounds like it's going to start I don't think that sounds like a dead battery.

I have never once seen gasoline freeze, it would gel before that and would have to be unbearably cold (Too cold for this guy to be outside jump starting haha).

I agree with checking for fuel though.

Like I said, you need air fuel and spark, start eliminating and get back to us.

Out here in the states the gas stations are allowed no more then 8% water. So if he pushed water inro his system it can freeze. Ice seen it happen. And gelling ice seen this mainly in deisel.

Did you end up trying to push start or trying to reset the ECU?

I do not understand how this could be the battery if your saying you boosted it, and it sounds like its going to start but just won't. If it's cranking, and every battery related thing works like you've said I don't think its the battery. Your probably getting air, check for fuel and spark.

Try not to overcomplicate things. If the battery is dead ,the car wont boost , as the engine management system needs 12+ volts to run. He has done the right thing , charge battery and try again. Its an 06 ,the battery is probably done. They dont last for ever.

What battery would be a good choice to replace this one with? Since it is prob the battery.

If the car can crank over and he has jumped it and it stil won't start.battery is out of the question. A car needs 12 volts to start correct and to run it uses the aternator so he needs to check for fuel and spark.
