help asap on stage 2 install

alright guys, i got my stage 2 today in the mail. This is the situation. Dealer wants to charge me 200 for full install w/ reflash or 100 for just reflash if i install it myself. I was going to put the parts in myself tonight but im not sure if im going to have the right tools. how big of a bitch is it to get that pulley off? and what will i need to get it off. I have many of snap on tools @ my school (UTI). Im just trying to save money. what do u guys think i should do seriously. oh and i didnt have time to search all that much i have to be at school in an hour.

Honestly, I would spend the money and have the dealership do it. $200 is not a bad price. I paid $215 for my install. Plus, if they install it, it will be under warranty. If something happens to it, they will fix it for free. As far as installation difficulty, I'm not sure.

I'm not going to lie if you can find a towing company they probably have a pulley puller that they will let you use for like ten bucks. I ended up grinding my pulley off though honestly and I haven't had any problems, just be sure you don't hammer on the supercharger or anything.

My 2 cents, save the money, and do it yourself. Save the rest for gas because you are going to need it once you figure out how much fun stage 2 is!!

It's a real easy thing to do yourself honestly, don't be intimidated just be sure to have someone take the pulley off with some kind of puller. That's the only hitch....

my advice.... bring it to the dealership... if your buying stageII it's only for warranty purposes.. and if you don't have the dealership install it, they can deny warranty claims. plus it's a bad idea to drive on 42lb injectors untuned.

why save $100 to lose 2 years of warranty?

If you do it yourself you get 12 months.
if GM does it, its covered under your vehicle warranty.

you can remove the pulley using a press, by pressing a small socket onto the snout, and then you can use a bolt and some washers to drive the new pulley on.

the injectors and belt are easy. so if u have access to a press then ur ok.

Yeah, you can't use a usual puller, it'll mess up the snout. I'd bring it in for $200, wtf not??

pay the dealership...200 is a great price. Payed 300 for mine and had to work em hard to get that. I was the first one to do it at that dealership though.

I dont understand the point of saving $100 and going through the hassle, when your giving up literally up to 2 years of warranty coverage.
especially when your already paying about $200 more for the parts in a stage 2 kit then you could buy them aftermarket...... for the fact that its under warranty.

seems like an oxymoron to me.

yea, i got everything put in today. i had to go to my shop to use the press. and i used a bolt with washers and nuts to press the new hub on there. the whole install is simple. and really, i have 22k miles on my car already so i only have 8 g's left. i didnt get the stage 2 for just warrenty, i got it for quality and durability also. my dealers really cool so i dont have to worry about them voiding ****. i talked too them about it today. Well after everything was put on i drove it very slowly with no boost shifting at 2k every shift for about 12 miles. so i should be fine. i dont think 12 miles is too much. ill be getting her out monday after they do the flash.
