Help: Black under Aluminum wheel.

Hey guys I need some help.

I looking to paint my 18" stock chrome wheels black and leave the polished lip around the edge like hatrickstu and a bunch of other guys on the site. I've heard that the gunmetal rims, after they are stripped down reveal black. Is this the same for the aluminum wheels. Did you just use any paint stripper.

Any help or link would be much appriciated.

Thanks in advance

I used some citrus paint stripper from walmart. Took me two cans. 2 of my rims were REALLY stubborn and only the clearcoat came off. I don't know how the black paint doesn't react and strip off. Follow the directions on the can and you should be fine. It will pretty much wipe away with some buffing. It seems the gunmetal paint GM used was a clear paint and the black was the base. I had some spots that were already chipped through both the gunmetal and black.
