HELP! Car is runing way rich!

Ok I dont have a wide band or any type of gauge to varafie this at this time but I had noticed that I was geting alot of black sutt on my bumper so I cleaned it all off when I washed the car. (It looked like crap) So Iv put about 1000 miles on the car sisn I cleand it last (Did this in 4 days) and Its back! Its realy bad to.
My brother was following me and I hit on it and he calls me and ses that a big black cloud came out when I got on it and it keeped making black smoke till I let off of it. WTF?????
SO I pulled the spark plugs (cars been runing funny the last 1,500 miles or so) and what do I find. There badly carbon coated! And they look like they have 120K on them.
The car has 5300 miles on it.
The last time I drove it I got on it and it poped like a back fire and then it started to miss eny time you gave it enuff go to make boost.
I parked the car and let it sit for about 3 hours.
Started it and it runs fine now. Took it for a test run around the block and it seams to run like it did befor the pop.

Im at a lose here guys. Im going to take it to the dealer in a week. Im also going to have them look at the clutch as its started slipping.

Thanks guys.

nah dude, thats just typical, ur running 91 or 92 im guessing, its not a huge issue, infact it means u have some room to mod without leaning out the car.

My mods are GM stage 2. K&N filter in stock air box. And a magnaflow catt back.

It seams to me that its runing way to rich. It should not be making the plugs foul in 5K.

If the plugs are fouled, you car would have trouble starting, and run like complete ass.

at our dyno day they couldn't believe how rich the 2.0 ss s/c runs. it is pretty nuts, some good tuning could yield nice gains on a stock car.

The car dosnt run as good as it used to and I am runing the stock plugs.

One thing I would like to know is why is every one going to a colder plug? I have been working on cars for years and every time I have changed the plugs on a car that was runing righ I went to a hoter plug to fix the problem.

Im am geting good fuel mileg though. I got 34mpg on a 360 mile trip. It was about 80% highway.

Here is a C\P from a site I found http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinf...000&country=US

A cold spark plug has a shorter insulator nose and absorbs more combustion chamber heat. This heat travels a shorter distance, and allows the plug to operate at a lower internal temperature. A colder heat range is necessary when the engine is modified for performance, subjected to heavy loads, or is run at a high rpm for a significant period of time. Colder spark plugs remove heat quicker, reducing the chance of pre-ignition/detonation. Failure to use a cooler heat range in a modified application can lead to spark plug failure and severe engine damage

I've got an intake and exhaust at the moment, waiting for stage 1 to put on my 2.9 pulley. Should I move to colder plugs now, or wait?

Sorry for the hijack. If you want to lean it out either get Rob to do it, or get HP Tuners and do it yourself. That would work, if you know what your doing

I think Im going to go with a 2.8 pully and a new set of plugs and see what that dose for me.

Later.
