Help with exhaust sound

I have a 2006 cobalt ss/sc with the stage 2 kit and tune from GM.. Also have the GMPP cat back exhaust, and a cold air intake.. Car has 120,000 miles on it with all the parts. Well the cat finally went out on me.. No here is the prob, I have been unemployed for a while and dont have much money coming in. I sure cant buy a brand new down pipe from GM with a cat. So I made me up a new down pipe with out the cat. I did the 02 spacer thing with the spark plug foulers and no code.

Every thing is good and she is running great, but I cannot stand how loud the sound is. I F-in hate it. What can I do to make this thing quit again. I have a budget of 75 bucks. How about another resonator, and who make the best. Or a high flow cat would that bring the sound back down. Any help would be great.

The cheapest route would be to take in the stock downpipe for a recall of the cat lol. However a high flow cat, or stock cat etc put in the downpipe you currently have will make things quieter for sure.

well what was the recall on the cat.. I never got a letter in the mail on that recall. I think it might be to late since I cut it out and welded in a straight pipe. Not for sure how the dealer would take to that.

not sure. I cant remember, but I think its the performance exhaust. And I do not have the stock muffler. What about replacing my resonator with a ultra quit vibrant or a magnaflow one?

Resonator will prob be your best bet. Honestly I don't know what you were thinking when you went catless...if you have an issue with a loud exhaust??

I went cat less, because the cat went out. I didn't take it off to be quieter, and I was not having a prob before I had to take the cat off.

I was just looking for a solution for the now loud ass car. I could by a high flow cat and put back on but not sure how well that would work out. Or a resonator, I was asking for other peoples opinion. On how to fix this.

If you would have read my whole post instead of assume then you would have know what I was thinking.

Well I did read your whole post, still made no sense. You could make an entire downpipe, but couldn't spring for a cat?? How does that make sense...

And I told ya what would be your best bet...don't need to get sensitive
