i would have recommended doing this procedure with the battery disconnected. I hope nothings fried though, good luck.

I hope that you didn't fry anything. I would have used a add-a-fuse instead of splicing the wires.

well, the gauge itself should be linked to a fuse somewhere, i spliced the wire but i did make sure to have the power off and to wrap it well with electrical tape. I dunno about hooking in the obdII sensor while the power is on though, that could straight up fry the computer if somethings shorts.

did you take the jumper off the back of the gauge. and i know the interceptor is picky about which make a fuse you use.

jumper off the back of the gauge? i used the middle red wite and connected it to a switched source...apparently the cobalts need this...i was a little confused when i read that part of the manual...

btw, i tested the gauge out...i plugged it in while the car was already started, it works great, gives me plenty of (seemingly) correct info... its just that i gotta unplug it before i leave the car... crappy

ya on the back of the gauge there is a jumper which will look like this.

i installed 2 for a couple of buddies of mine and we had to remove the jumper as it says in the manual if you are using a power source and the obdII connector. i don't know why it's like this but give it a try it worked for me when i installed them.

outtamymind, you are the coolest guy in history lol....the gauges power up and power off properly now because i removed the "jumper" (little red cap) from the back of the gauge.... good ****

however, it seems as if after the fiasco (ya i know, cool word, eh?) last night with my car going crazy, my hids on the draivers side flickers when starting up now...but once theyr on, they are fine.... any ideas? ...maybe i damaged the bulb and new to get a new set?

i doubt they are related.
check the connections to your bulbs/ballasts.

Also, as bulbs get older on HIDs, they dont "blow" like a halogen.

they flicker sometimes.....sometimes have trouble igniting, sometimes will, sometimes wont....
until eventually one day they just wont fire up.

could just be your bulbs starting to age a bit.
(ps, cheap ebay kits age QUICKLY)

ya i haven't touched or know much about HID's otherwise i would give you some insight but im glad that you got the interceptor working correctly it took me quite a while to figure that one out but at the same time i was also apparently using the wrong make a fuse as i said earlier they are a little picky about which one you use lol.

thx again!

and an0malous...wen i had the problems last night with the interceptor getting plugged in, my hids were flickering like crzy...among other things...you dont think they could be related?

also, do hids lose their colour when they age?
and if my current setup DOES have a problem because of the malfunction of my misinstalled gauge, what would i need to replace: ballast, bulb, or both?

the only thing that i personally think could be related to your flicker problem is your wiring for the gauge is screwing around with it. but thats like a 1% chance.

ya, at this point i doubt that...i think it got damaged last night when i plugged in the interceptor w/ the jumper still on it...i may have completed the circuit and did other things to it... i swear that when i plugged it in, i could hear noises like senors and such coming from my trunk, and my interior lights went dim, and my hids wernt on, but they we flickering.... then of course my car wouldnt turn over and i had to boost it from another car ...but i very seriously doubt that the hid problem is being caused by my current setup

what did you use for your power source for the gauge cuz you use the obdII and the power source what did you use. cuz if everything was working fine before you installed the gauge then something got screwed up during the install
