Hesitation

Hello all. Just got a quick and hopefully simple question. I was reading the thread about dirty throttle bodies causing rough idle. I've got a slightly fluctuating idle myself, but I've also got a hesitation almost any time I increase throttle. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and the throttle body cleaning cured it? Also, just went 2.6 on the pulley and about to go with 60# injectors. (the above problem was occurring before this) Any ideas on cheap but functional laptop software for tuning? Thanks a lot.

its very possible. clean the TB and see what happens. its maybe a 30 minute adventure if youve never done it before, and can be done with household cleaners, though something like carb. cleaner would be best.

thats not the problem. he said he was experiencing this issue before making the swap to a 2.6" pulley. However, it IS still very dangerous and potentially fatal for your motor....so dont floor it AT ALL until you get those 60lbers

dude don't listen to them

take your car out and do a top speed run with it to get the full experience from your newly installed (and not researched) hardware!!!

make sure you take a vid cam with you and post so we can see the results

hptuners is probably your only good bet for tuning, but its not exactly cheap, $650 gets you the pro version. I'm glad i made the choice for hptuners, but after owning it for 8 months i'm still learning and trying new things.

To those with respectable advice, suck as ShortStack, HunterKiller and LopsidedJester, I appreciate it. I was planning on trying it anyway next chance I get, but figured I'd throw it out there before hand in hopes of getting a deffinate answer. It's always nice to know what to expect. To those who are quick to judge a persons actions/mechanical knowledge and act as if you are a mechanical mastermind who's knowledge can only be topped by the manufacturers' engineers themselves, maybe you should grow up a little. I'm aware of what a super-lean fuel situation can cause and am aware of how to avoid it during the mean time. Don't worry, no ring seizing or holes in pistons etc. for me. Also, if you think for some reason that a 2.6 is certain death, that's good. But the guy I got it from ran it for 20+ thousand before selling the car and had no problem. For some reason, he trashed his factory injectors when he installed the upgraded ones and couldn't swap them back out before selling the car. Wish I'd met him just before he sold it instead of just after... Oh well.
Again, to those sensible people out there, thanks. Look forward to hearing from you again.

it's not that i'm judging the mechanical knowledge you have... i'm saying you have none to begin with because of what you're doing.

should also install a 60 dry shot while you're at it, so you can practice purging the lines

hahahahahha if you are running stock injectors with a 2.6 you are blowing my mind. I run 92% duty cycle with a factory pulley. But the hesitation could be the airflow changed from the pulley swap. Your maf needs to be scaled to accomidate and bring your airflow vs. frequency table. Hptuners will fix this also.

When does the hesitation happen? Is it when you first get into power... like 3-5psi or are you talking right off idle? I have cured just about every type of hesitation with my car.... each one had different characteristics. A HPT scan has a wealth of info that can usually pinpoint issues.

SelfInfliction...... why do you have to be a jackass??? For your information, I graduated in the top 5 in a graduating class of 86 at Nashville Auto-Diesel College in September of '03 so quit showing your ignorance. Jrockstar.... the problem was occurring before the pulley swap (see original post). Injectors and a tuning job are coming next chance I get and I'm avoiding running it hard until then. Matego.... it does it off idle and when you accelerate from a cruising speed. Anyone wanna sell their HPT?

Stupid question but did you look real good for vacuum leaks? That plastic cup that holds the injector on my #1 cylinder was cracked and sucking air. ( I know, freak ****... thats my luck) and it was horrible when the engine was cold.

I know it has been touched before but did you pull the throttle body and clean it yet? That can do some weird stuff. I also had a loose MAF that screwed me over too. I bought the car used and the guy only put 1 screw in it about 1/2 way. The MAF was more problematic during medium acceleration 7-10psi 3-4k I am not saying 100% the TB is doing it but it only takes 10 min to remove and inspect it.

Good luck on HPT. You might want to check out their forum, sometimes it pops up there for sale used. You need to jump quick though, good deals on HPT do not last. GM's **** ass PE curve was causing me some surges with a smaller pulley and injectors but thats a easy fix with HPT.

Yeah, if your IDCs are below 100, something is wrong.

maybe he is running an a1000 external pump and has bumped up the fuel pressure to 7 bar guess that means he don't need 60's

Thanks to all who are serious. But due to the bullshit I've had to deal with from these other ass holes, I think this will be my last visit to the website. It's a shame that there's so much immaturity every where you look. Even on a website that was intended to bring people together with the pride they have in their vehicles. But maybe that's the problem to begin with.... it's a website. They can talk all the **** they want without getting their face smashed. Oh well. Good by to the Adults out there. And all you childish ******, well, you can eat **** and keep hiding behind your computer screens like little **** master pussies.

Jeanbalt. Nothing has been altered on mine except for the pulley and a cold air. I was talking about the car that the pulley came off of was the one that got sold. My injectors are factory... for now. That'll be changing soon. I would've already been changed, but I got laid off. Hence, the delay.
