How to check if your Intercooler Pump is working ok

I have some thoughts that my intercooler pump is not working as it should. What is the correct procedure to check if the pump is ok? voltage? constant flow?

I turned on the car and let it run for a couple minutes and then I slowly removed the cap on the intercooler filler neck. If you see it swirling wor bubbling then it's working. If not..... It might be dead. If that happens tap the pump with a hammer it might get it going again.

Are you serious? I just saw in the filler neck, there is water swirling around but its white. Idk, I think I need to flush the entire system because I can't find here Dex-Cool and my reservoir tank is running out too quickly. I need to put Prestone Extended Life Coolant but I'm must sure of the process the flush everything out.

I check it, oil color is brownish normal. How could they get possible mix? Where is the gasket you are talking about? It is indeed milky white but its possibly dex-cool residuals that mix with green Prestone coolant I pour in.

yeah your ok.. you cant mix the coolant colors(unless specified on the bottle) it will foam up white and not work. btw the head gasket is between the head and engine.

Yep.

Also for you guys freaking out.. Use Prestone Dex-Cool 50/50 pre-mixed. It can be added directly the system without the need for flushing and all of that ****.

Dex-Cool is Dex-cool is Dex-Cool is Dex-Cool is Dex-Cool.

Just don't buy the "mixes with any color". None of that cheap green ****.

I'm saying it right now, I could be dead wrong. But I didn't think that the M62's cooling system could even come in contact with the oil in any way, shape, or form.. Now the coolant passages in the block is a different story..

Right. The SC cooling system is separate from the engine cooling system.

The best way to tell if the IC pump is working is to turn the key to the Run position without starting the car. After 10 seconds, the IC pump should kick in and you will hear a buzz coming from the engine bay.

When these pumps fail, the buzzing stops.

Just a thought but I would suggest that if your pump is not working before you replace it check the connector for the pump

Then why the milky white color of the coolant?
