How does HP Tuners work?
I'm going to probably get flamed for this, but how does the HP Tuners thing work. Is it a kit you buy for your car that helps you tune it like Superchips or Bullydog? Or is it a thing you install to your PC and your car? I'm asking because NO ONE around my area does custom tuning and I really know nothing about it. But I was thinking later down the road when I get some real money for my Cobalt maybe getting the TVS or Hahn setup and I'll need more than a canned tune for that. So can anyone tell me about this? Also, what options would there be for tuning for cold weather?
You tune your PCM settings using your computer.
www.hptuners.com has alot of information
its not like the superchips, where u just hit a button..
this requires thinking, math, and actually some knowledge about the program to get it to do what u want.
a small mistake can cost you your engine.

DDM works installed SCLBlks tvs and tuned it..
although he knows a ton himself..
i actually want to start looking into tuning and stuff.
anyone know if theres like a trial version or pratice of htp so you can actually get in there and mess around with the stuff and see what alls in there?

see, the my thing is that i really want the hahn setup, but it's obviously expensive. on the other hand the tvs is a bit better on the pocket book, but i want a reliable setup so tuning from a trusted source would be nice.
Well keep in mind that the cost of the TVS goes beyond just the supercharger. You also need larger injectors, dual pass, heat exchanger, full exhaust, A/F gauge, and either meth or a return style fuel system. I'm sure I'm leaving out a couple other key components.
All in all, you could easily spend $5000 upgrading to TVS. Same can be said for going Hahn level 5.

the hahn level 5 is like 4200? 4300? I would miss the scream of the blower, but honestly having a hahn turbo cobalt would be worth it and you can sell your supercharger gear.
1. No there is no trial version... i do how ever, have a unregistered version i can send you. You cant do anything though (no saving files or anything).. but ill give you a couple tunes to look at.
2. Considering that the TVS is more efficient.. you dont need all of those cooling mods.
Upgraded injectors are a must, along with the full exhaust and maybe a heat exchanger. A dual pass would be nice with the option B. You dont really need a AFR gauge unless your going to be doing some tuning... i mean its nice, but not needed.
Meth is a hit or miss.
I started the ordering process of my Hahn kit
it will be here in marchish.
Im not saying its bad to run everything... but if you want to run it as an upgrade (and not try to utilize every aspect to get power) you dont NEED to get all of those things.
