How does the intercooler pump work?

On the intercooler pump I have there are two prongs sticking out of it (where the power hookup goes). Where does that pump get hooked up to? It's electric so does it turn on when the coolant hits a certain temp or is always on?(ie wire it into a continuous 12v source)?

The pump is off a LSJ. Stock LSJ pump.

Are you working on a 2.0 supercharger swap onto your 2.4?

I would imagine that it'd always be on with the ignition

Little background info...

Electronic, i would assume it has temp levels, due to the simple nature of how it works. Good Luck!

it comes on at a certain temp.

I would throw a relay off of the cooling fan, and perhaps a switch on the dash.

if it was always on, you would burn it out fast.

The stock LSJ intercooler pump starts 10 seconds after the car is running and runs continuously until the engine is turned off.

I was, then stopped when I realized I didn't have the supercharger bolts, intake manifold brace, 1/4" tubing, and intake manifold bolts (I assumed the 2.4 stockies would be okay). I had 3 days to do it, and not all the parts were available next-day. To make a long story short, I went back to stock and will need to drop it off at SMG Motorsport and have them finish it and tune it.

Lot's of opinions. I need a concrete answer though.

The directions I have are these exactly:

"Connect wire to fuel pump fuse, an "adder fuse" can be used here. The other line needs to be grounded. We used a custom wire harness here but in your case you must figure out which is power and which is ground. To do this you can temporally hook up the wires and connect piping to the pump and add water to the inlet and see if it gets pumped out the outlet. If the water pumps in the opposite direction, then the wiring needs to be
switched around."

So if the pump is always on, and increases in pressure based on RPM then it must be getting a signal from something...

edit:

Wow, I just re-read the directions and it makes sense. Connect wire to fuel pump fuse This must mean that as the fuel pump sees more currrent then the intercooler pump also increases in pressure as it sees more current too....
