How to get stage 2 pulley off?

I just got my 2.9 pulley from nate and all I want to do is get it on... I've spent the last 5 hours trying to get the stage2 pulley off. I've even taken air and 4 different sets of vice grips too them.. I have had 4 mechanically educated people try to help me.. and to no avail.. this thing and no tool I can think to buy is getting this thing off... How in the hell do you get it off? Who do you take it too? My bolts and pulley are nearly destroyed in my rage.

BTW nates pulley looks sweet.. He overnighted it too me on request and I got is very fast.

Umm... I take it you didn't get the bits that came with your stage 2 back from the dealer that installed it?

The pulley is gonna be on there tight b/c the dealer uses threadlocker. But if you leave the belt on and use the stage 2 bits the bolts should unscrew easily enough.

Hey you need a 15mm wrench, and then after that it is pretty easy! If you need help man head out to Blue Springs, with the wrench and I'll help ya with it, I have done it 3 times now!

PS I have the bits needed to get it off!

yeah, did the dealer give you back the screw attachments?? if so make sure you loosen the bolts SLIGHTLY b4 relieving tension off the belt and then once you take off the belt you can remove the bolts.. If you didnt get the accessory tool back from the dealer you had better go back there and request that they replace it for you, after all you paid for it...

I had the same problem were I could not remove the stage 2 pulley bolts. I ended up taking the supercharer off and drilling them out. Once you drill through the heads of the bolts the pulley comes off and the bolts just twist out by hand. I just replace the bolts with some chrome M8-1.25 allen head bolts.

Did you try tapping them with a hammer to maybe break the seal a little? Just a thought. Seems like you tried most of the obvious ideas. Time to break out the cutoff wheel!

Try heating the bolts up with a propane torch. That should break the seal. Then after it cools try to take the bolts off.

If you stripped them now you have to drill them out. Good luck.

We finally got it off.. Those bolts where so tight it was stupid. My neighboor owns U.S. 36 Raceway and he helped me for awhile to get them off. We stripped the bolts and had to beat them into bit shape. I had several other mechanically inclined people try but they all became too afraid they were going to mess it up. I was told by one mechanic that I was going to have to grind them out. The GM bit is worthless. I imagine its that way to be tamper proof. If you notice the curve on the bit it is made to be put on but not to be taken off easily. When we spun the bit it basically just bends the metal in the bolt before it spins. It took two vice grips, a metal bar, a giant screwdriver, and a very strong man to get the last bolt out. And needless to say bloody knuckles.. Superior Chevrolet apparently didn't want me taking them out... There was no loctite on them... The stage 2 pulley and bolts are destroyed.. These things were bolted on safer than lug nuts..

But on the bright side the 2.9 rocks ass. According to my gauge im boosting at 16.5 (about 1-1.5psi gain) now and boosts much faster.
