how to keep your lsj alive in the winter

it's that time again kiddies. it gets colder, people blow the **** out of their lsj's.

here is a friendly helper to keep your car living during the winter time.

if you have a smaller than stage 2 pulley on your car and are not the tuner of your car. go up in sizes. your afr will swing good to richer than normal. most people don't take the time to tweak their maf cals with an error window in it. so go up in sizes.

straight stage 2 car?
leave it.

stock?
leave it.

tvs cars?
work that maf call until you get actual/cmnd. even with meth you will have to command richer than normal.

change your plugs. lower the gap a smidge. don't beat on the car a lot.

you don't care. it's the kids who beat the **** out of their cars and then make a thread on here about "i blew my car up"

you on the other hand will laugh like a school girl when you do it.

the lsj has a ****-tastic baro sensor that doesn't like to compensate for colder temps. so it runs leaner. leaner = power, but also equals more heat.

Oh no not that. I knew that.

I was referring to comp testing when the motor is cold vs hot.

I usually do mine when it's cold or the coolant temp is around 110 degrees, give or take.

Baro compensates for MAP measurements at different altitudes. IAT1 compensates for MAF changes at different temps.

Its the calibration, not the sensor.

Not the MAF calibration, the IAT correction that you can't adjust.

Maybe on stock blower cars, not on TVS ones.

It's a good thing I'm tuned for ~50* weather. That is actually a little colder then it gets her most of the time. I also spent a long time on my VE and MAF.

Cheers though, seems most of the people who blow their LSJs up do it during the winter.

Just like Dan, couldn't of just spun a bearing and just stop driving it. Had to put a hole in the block...
