That is a very loaded question? Your Hp and Tq question will be baised depending on the tuner and how aggresive he tunes!

Methanol in and of it's self is for the cooling and added octane!

i gained a little bit of hp maybe 10 at the wheels. when i dynoed it i had all kinds of trouble with my header down pipe setup.

ill tell you its really just to cool everything down. i pull alot harder for alot longer, no heat soak when i stay on it in the 1/4

negative it prevents you from loosing hp due to heat , the hp comes in when you start adding timing now gtfo.

Pay attention to what you just said. It prevents you from loosing HP due to heat. Which in return, adds HP because you have LESS heat HOLDING you back.............................................. ...............

It doesnt add anything because you already have it . IF i have 30 dollars and someone gives me a wallet so i dont loose the money by putting it in my pocket i didnt just gain more money by getting a wallet. its just preventing me from loosing my money.

lets change the way you are both saying this....

you already have the hp somewhere in the car it is lowered by heat and so it shows less at the wheels.

adding meth and tuning for it then frees up the lost horsepower so the dyn owill show you more.

then add timing as you see fit and you gain a few more ponies here and there

more importantly you dont get heat soak so your car accelerates just as quickly for longer than it would originally

because if you run out of it while your running it and your car is tuned for it then you go into limp mode...whereas if your stock tuned an you run out of your meth juice no harm done an you can still drive home

you do need a tune for meth. If you don't, you'll be running stupid rich and even though you might have lower IAT's, the car being pig rich may actually get slower.

me personally, my car heat soaked and dropped off the tq curve as I revved higher. With the meth, and tuning, I was able to not drop the tq harly at all. Bit gains there.

meth does not add HP

its basically a band aid if you are running a bunch of HP in a car that possibly cant take it... or if you want to be on the safe side....

if that was the case then you jus need to adjust the amount of water/meth ratio of your juice...more meth=more rich

Wow. Why would you not tune for meth? That is just silly. You are spraying extra fuel into your intake without the ECM compensating for it. Yea, meth has a lower stoich, but still.

Meth, in and of itself frees up HP by cooling the intake charge. Cool air compresses better than hot air. You can also run leaner WOT mixtures AND add timing due to the heat reduction and increase in octane. That adds HP. Need a tune though, imo.

Also, technically, it does add HP, since heat is the byproduct of the supercharger which is what creates the added HP to begin with. If you dyno an engine at 160 hp, then add a SC and dyno at 210, the SC added 50 hp. By adding an intercooler or meth or something else to cool the intake charge you gain more HP than with the SC alone.

I got meth.... As soon as I get the stage 2 setup for my Trunk mount AIS system, I'm gunna go get a tune for the meth and bump up the * a bit. And its simple not to run out.... Check it after every use if you Must!

The AIS has a 1.5 gal tank so If I run outta that after one outting with the car... well then I really need to slow down!

i'm jus sayin its not a necessity to tune for it cuz some ppl can't tune for it...i.e. money or no local tuner/shop....you can still reap benefits and not tune for it...as i have said b4 you will gain more if you tune for it

I get you, I am just looking at the fact that when I installed my meth, my first WOT run got me like a high 9 AFR or something, and I was tuned to 11.5. Imagine what that looks like if someone is running a stage tune commanding 10.8! I had to bring down my MAF in most WOT areas about 15% or so iirc to get my 11.5 back.

Actually it's rich as hell. 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel is stoich. The higher the number, the leaner. The lower the number, the richer. 11.4-11.8 is considered good for our cars at WOT near RL. In the 10s is rich. In the 9s, your washing away all of the oil from your cylinder walls. lol

Nah, it's not scary at all. All you need is a brain and patience. I only have one of the 2 and I did okay. lol The trick is baby steps.
