gm stage 1 and 2.85= bad idea. i'd wait till you go stage 2 at least. and then i would have a tune, and put rev back down the 6500 to help keep IDC in the kosher.

Stage 1 and 2 tune are the same.... as long as you get the stage 2 belt you will be fine.

Some will argue that it is safer to go 2.9 with that setup but I personally think 2.85 is alright as long as you aren't going WOT everytime you drive the car.

stage one tune and the stage 2 are the same, you will need the stage 2 belt. Now you might want to think of getting some cooling mods such dual pass or cobra heat exchanger.

how much safer is the 2.9 compared to the 2.85, i mean we are talkin about .05 inches. thats not much of a difference. and i still need to know what air to fuel ratio for the stage 1/2 tune is, hopefully someone has this info, thanks

It all depends on your tuning. A 2.85 shouldn't overspin your blower, so you are fine there. But if your tune is poor, something will blow up even if you have the stock pulley on.

iirc the stage tune comands a low 10 afr at wot. at least on my car it dips that low.

i was just bustin your ****, the stage 1 and 2 tune are the same, best bet would be nothing smaller than a 2.85

go with the 2.9 but remember that you will no longer have a warranty if you walk into the dealer with a 2.9 on there! Also think about some cooling mods, like another HE.

I would also want some monitoring equipment on there to watch what the engine is doing... Wideband and Interceptor gauge. These might be the most important things so that you actually know what your engine is doing when you are outside of the garage. You gotta watch your IAT's knock and afr...
