Car is running. Open hood, Open cap to IC system. Verify coolant is flowing. If not moving, it's not working.

May be hard to tell if your neck is 100% full, but look for bubbles if thats the case.

ok i replaced the pump today and car runs a lot better (i guess not heat soaking as much) and i took a look at what you ^ said and it looks as if it isnt really flowing but i see little bubbles (not a lot) you think maybe since i have the zzp heat exchanger and the stock one working together, it isnt flowing as fast as it did with just the stock?

Do you by any chance have an interceptor gauge? If you do watch your iat2's. If they raise extremely quickly when your WOT then the pumps probably out. It's really common on these cars for the IC Pump to fail. Basically from what others have said, metal flakes or shavings get stuck and it seizes up. Moral of the story replace it if its not working lol. But as the guy above said take a look at the filler neck and see if you can see bubbles or any type of movement or flow of liquid. If you see no bubbles/flow then it needs to be replaced ASAP. It's really important to have a working pump because to high of iat2's can cause your number 4 piston to go bye bye, and thats no fun lol.

Well let's put it this way...my last cobalt I ran for over a year on stage 2 with no pump and I drove the hell out of it. Never blew anything. And it's hot as hell down here in FL. There are parameters in the tune that cut boost if the IAT2s get too high, as a provision to keep from blowing the motor.

Lol...if you think your pump isn't working, try tapping on it with a hammer on the plastic end where the hoses connect. You can also tap on the metal bracket that holds it on the car. If you can get close enough to it, you can hear the pump whine while it's running. It's just plastic shavings on the inside that clog up the magnets...tappin on it breaks them loose and makes the connection again.

with no interceptor to tell, it was probably going out or gone. Hammer mod may have got you some more time out of it. the parameters in the tune cut boost to 80% when the IAT2s get to 207*. When I finally figured out that my pump was out in my old car and replaced it, it was like a whole new car.

When the pump decides to crap out in this cobalt, I've seen temps shoot as high as 170's on a quick WOT pull. From what I've seen, IAT2's should NEVER be over 140 unless you are riding the **** out of the car constantly, doin consistent pulls, etc.

Ford Racing used the EXACT same Bosch Pump that is on our cars, for the Cobra and Lightning.

A 'Cobra Intercooler Pump' is the same thing as the 'Bosch Intercooler Pump' that is used on our car, and is generally $35 less.

The easiest way to see if it's working is to take a simple drinking straw, put it in the fill neck and see if it gets tossed around from the fluid flow.

I agree.. I used a flat head screw driver to check mine, if it sucks it to the side.. it's flowing
