hurst shifter wobble

I just installed the hurst the shifter and it basically works fine. The problem i have is that the shifter kinda wobbles or rotates clockwise or counter clockwise. I'm not sure but i think its the little tiny screw with the locktite on it cuz that bolt is stripped and i cant get it out so any possible advice would be great!! I did a search and couldn't find much on this problem

I know what you mean. Mine dosen't do it.. but a friends does. If you use the "correct" size wrench to put the screw in it will strip before it gets tight enough. I had to use a wrench one size larger... tap it in with a small hammer, then screw it down... to get it to work.

you need to take the shifter back out... pull the stupid set screw back off... and go down to the hardware store...

get a longer set screw... they're common parts... and won't cost more than 25 cents... put the new screw in and you should be set... the one Hurst sends is cheap.

I have the same exact problem with my Hurst short throw as well. Followed the directions and even tore it back apart to refine this issue; found out that set screw is stripped causing it to have that minor rotation/ wobble. Since it is locktite I could not tighten it any more; not as solid as it should be. I probably should have waited until locktite cured.

I had the same problem that you guys are having. And after close examination between my hurst and my friends, we found out that my shifter had issues. lol basically where the set screw goes in to tighten to the shifter, it wasn't tapped all the way through. so my shifter was twisting and wobbling around. take yours out and look at it closer, it might have the same problem that mine had. i dunno just a thought a personal experience speakin here. good luck though

i remember reading where someone else did this, and they bought some replacements from like home depot or something.
maybe just take it with you to a hardware store and see what they can do.

drill it out if you have to... hopefully it won't come down to that... you could always buy a stripped bolt/screw remover... they ain't too expensive.

well i took ur advice and hammered in my hex and tighten the bolt down and now its not really wobbling. It will budge if u use a little force but it sooo much better now and as a plus i adjusted the cables to where it feels almost perfect with every shift, thanks for the advice ++rep
