hurst shortie
hurst shortie
hey guys i just got my hurst shortie shift and i was just wondering if there is anything to look out for before installing? ive searched and printed out various posts but any help/advice would be awesome. thanks. -mike
unclip the gray clip that connects the stock shifter to the cable, and take it out while still on the shifter. After you take it out of the shifter assembly, THEN pry it off of the stock shifter assembly, not before.
And re-attach it before you put the hurst in, then clip it down.

thanks for the help. as far as adjusting it is there any paticular way. i was this because i've read mark the cables in 4th, mark in reverse, and even mark in neutral... any way the best? i just dont wanna mess anything up that i dont have to...
I only marked 4th...
It tells you to put the car in 4th before you disassemble, and when you put it back together you just have to do trail and error to figure out what adjustments work best for finding 1-5 and R. The gray clip (the cable that hooks up to the bottom of the shifter) didnt need much adjusting from what it was stock, but the left one (moves forward and back when you move the shifter left and right) you need to mess with a bit to get it just right. Its going to be a little different for everyone I would think.
