To many parts to list. im also going for 450. Some of the important parts are Mahle 8.5.1 pitons head gaskets and head studs to reinforce the motor. FX400 clutch and some other too many parts.

What do you guys expect to do when the tranny blows up?

Not a nay sayer, just curious if you thought about that weak link.

The transmissions can be strengthened by JBP to with stand what you guys are going for. JBP says after they are finished with mine it will withstand all that we are throwing at it. The best part is that if you do not have LSD you can have it installed (you supply) at the same time that JBP puts the tranny back together (I spent the money installing the LSD to soon ) You can even get the gears changed to a more track suited ratio.

Besides the shipping it is $2100. to do the strengthening including on the input shaft, which is where the biggest failures happen. Another $200\gear that gets changed. The gears will also be made of a much stronger metal than our stock gears.
I have just shipped my tranny, and that was a bit of a pain. If you go to ship yours out, build a wooden box so there is no chance it will be damaged in shipping. The tranny will fit in a box 23"w x 23" x 19"h.
If you need to upgrade to the LSD I believe those are now selling for about $1250.

If all you guys are switching to turbo, why didn't you just buy an SRT4 to start with?
Its called a Cobalt SS Supercharged for a reason!

I"ll be going the same route over the winter... either a 20g.,... or I might go to a t3/t4 super 60... depends on what I do to the motor... I"ll probably start off with a stock motor to see what I can through at it and get the tuning down... then once the winter hits... I"ll pull the motor and do pistons rods and a cometic gasket... send my head out to get ported and then have some fun..... at least thats whats in the works

stop dreaming and start buying. Notice how the 500hp (425whp) kit uses a Hahn 20g. Balts dont respond to mods as well as srt4 but with a good setup the numbers can be obtained.

You can change which ever gears you want. I believe JBP was going to leave first alone but we will decide which ones to change once the tranny gets to JBP's shop. The first thing is to strengthen. The gear ratio's will be shared once they are finalized.

Yeah I am going to go Turbo. Complete before next summer!

Single, one Super 20G Turbo.
Thats what I would do if I had my CobaltSS paid off and I had a beater to drive to work, otherwise going turbo this early in the game just seems a little excessive, at least for me anyway. What does anyone think of the turbo conversion HahnRacecraft kit?
