Sorry i have been partying this weekend. Yes going with the Hahn replacement Turbo Kit. Just decided that is what I'm going to do. I'm still shopping for a Clutch, Axles, Pistons, Rods, Cams and other odds n' ends with the tuning. Dont worry it will be done right.

Honestly I'm not too concerned with the tranny but we will see when I get there.

well you can stay with your s/c and make 280 whp all day long.... I personally bought the car for the motor and had no intention of keeping it s/c'd....

Well, I like that people are taking the initiative to start turboing their balts. I'm trying like hell to find a supercharger that's meets my needs, but the availability is scarce. Blown-4-banger, you're right on with what our car is called, and I'm going to try and keep it that way. I will however, be turboing if I can't find what I'm looking for.

Thats my reasons too... nothing really out there to use... maybe go with a procharger or something... but I already have some turbo parts just being lazy that I need to put to work.... if whipple would release the 75ax... I'd be all for it.

Yeah, I bought it for the motor and at the time I thought for the transmission. Apparently there was a flaw in my buying strategy as the transmission is about as strong a chess team player. SRT-4 was out of the question because it went out of production. Otherwise I'd probably have one of those. I probably should have just went the ricer route and bought a Honda because in order for me to run a turbo I'm going to have to tear the motor apart anyways. I was hoping that a factory F/I car would be able to hold up to 300-350 hp, apparently not.

yeah that seems to be a problem... I was going to buy an SRT-4 then I remembered..

but after seeing these cars blow up left and right... I might be regretting my decision... A shop by me has a stock motored neon putting out 533 whp... (www.rippmods.com) check it out... car is sick...
but I"m gonna see what the stock motor can actually handle on the turbo before tearing it down.. If I can get 350 whp outta it that would be fine for now.

My car is going to get a rest while I'm in Okinawa for three years. I can't decide if I want to turbo it before I leave or wait until I get back. My biggest concern is a trusted speed shop, I don't have one around.

If you are going to be in Okinawa for three years ship the engine to JBP. It should be ready when you get back.

Just a question,
If you guys were shooting for 350 WHP why not just get a stock GTO? When everything is said and done, a clean/used LS2 GTO is going to be not too much more. With the Goat you also get RWD too. With 350 at the front wheels you are going to be severely handicapped with out traction. You could strip out the front clip and add some really fat slicks but your street ability flies out the window.

I've been there recently with a turbo LS1 SS and after playing that game I thought I would tone it down and just be happy with a Stage II 'Balt. If I wanted a 400 horse car I would have just got a GTO or a used ZO6, used CTSV. If you’re part of the ricer generation, then why not an Evo/STI, or an S2000 or 350Z to turbo?

I didn't go with a GTO because of insurance and gas, and I just don't like bigger cars. A compact is all I want. I didn't go with an import because I heart America. I figured I'd much rather the General get my dollars than the Shogun.

If I could get orders to Japan, no offense guys, but my Cobalt would be sold in a heartbeat. I love her, but I think a R33 or R34 GTR would be sitting in my driveway instead.

Ah the good old 20G. I had one in my old 90 Eclipse Pulled like a motherF***** only problem was the Lag... On a small 2.0L of displacement Engine It wasnt cutting it for me. To spin that wheel fast enough for me, I went with a 2.4L and I had full boost by 3000RPM

You know the LSJ could easily handle 18psi bone stock. GM wouldn't boost it under warranty @ 15psi unless it could handle 20psi reliably. I don't know why you guys are going forged pistons and chromoly rods unless your planned to race everyday. Doesn't make since at all to me. 18psi is enough to push 350+tq and who knows how much HP. I'd say port n' polish the head, adding at least 50CFM, then add some really, really good valvetrain and of course upgrade the cams to a higher profile with longer duration and a slightly higher lift. This would allow you to sucessfully add 1500RPM's to your rev range and still make power. THEN you could use a 60-1 .63A/R turbo and boost to 18psi. That would easily make 400whp since you've added RPM's AND you've added CFM and higher profile cams.

Its called a Cobalt SS Supercharged for a reason!
yeah but srt-4s go big turbo and dont have the rev's like a cobalt does to sit on boost. imagine it.....
