I found this amusing, you might too

There is a guy that raced a Cobalt SS 2.0 SC with his Minivan on Youtube, and it was so apparent that the Cobalt jumped ahead easily. At that point, the driver of the Cobalt quit trying (listen to the supercharger whine stop for 2 seconds) until he saw that the Minivan still had it floored and was still trying. So the SS tried to shift into the next gear and punch it to pass again, but it was too late.

The owner fights tooth and nail like his van is a Cobalt SS killer and calls the car garbage and everything else.

Then some idiot chimes in and says the old Dodge turbo 4 banger is the best thing ever.
That old thing is a 2.2 turbo with 140 or 170 or so hp stock depending on it being a TI or TII. He further states that the old turbo Dodges with 2.2 and 2.5 liter engines stomp Toyota Supras easily.

Where do these people spawn from?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXFy3zZ4XjY

I even got a guy saying his 2.2 Ecotec armed Malibu is faster than the Cobalt, even though it is listed everywhere as a 0-60 in 9.6 seconds and it makes sense because they weigh more yet have the same motor but the Cobalt 2.2 is 0-60 in about 8 seconds.

I need to looking at the threads on Youtube.

Please don't bash me for this post, I can already guess what will be said.
I am bored, and don't like people bashing and talking trash about Cobalts when they own cars or vans that are obviously not as good.

Usually...you let the car do the talking not the driver.

turbo dodges are bad ass...

my buddy spent $600 on exhaust and tires, and he went from a 16.4 to a 14.4 quarter mile time...with an automatic.

Turbo dodges are GREAT cars and can be very very fast, especially when you get into spirit r/t's and shelby CSX's. i wouldn't talk down to them unless you really know what your taking about.

Yeah, those minivans are quick, don't sleep on em.

There's a guy in the 12's with nothing but bolt-ons and drag radials with his 3spd auto

after watching that video a few times I'll have to kinda disagree with the OP. It really looks like the cobalt got its butt handed to him, regardless of jumping. and I wonder if thats the same minivan as in the other you tube video that runs 12s..............that being the case he would have definitely opened up a can on the cobalt.

no that will be one of the old 2.2l or 2.5l turbo motors. dodge built everything with those motors back in the late 80s/early 90s, including the 89 and 90 turbo caravans.

a guy locally has one. it was actualy a factory turbo 5 speed caravan, however he has a rather nicley built A413 3 speed auto in it now. he has had a lot of setbacks, ran 13.2 with the sohc head, he now has the turbo III DOHC head with a custom intake (among a ton of other stuff) putting down around 280whp running 13.1, all on a dodge stage 2 pcm. once he ditches the stock pcm and puts the microtech system on he wants, the motor should easily be 450hp, ultimate goal is to dip into the 10s.

"Hey ladies! Come on lets cruise around town tonight."

"Um, no thanks.. that thing is ******* embarassing to ride in"

"But it runs 12's"

Actually I dont think the SS lifted, I think the lack of while came from him short shifting into second to keep from riding against the rev limiter.. That and look at the list of mods on that van.. Those 2.2s are very impressive little motors..

No, its not an SRT engine. Do some friggin research for God's sake. Those old Dodge turbo vans are badass and will run 12's all day long with simple bolt-ons. Its an anomaly of automotive engineering that pops up every now and again. Doing an SRT engine swap would be a waste of money. Those old Dodge turbo engines can hold a lot more boost. The only thing I can think about these vans is that it'd be cool to have one because hilarity always ensues. That van may not run 12's but they're plenty that do and I've seen one in the 10's with 800 bucks worth of bolt ons. Just too fun.

Hey, the person who said its a srt-4 motor was talking about the one that was swapped into an older van. Theres a guy on youtube that did the swap and made videos of his kills with it . Even thou the swap was a "waste of money" maybe it was easier to find one as a replacement for a blown original motor.

Those old dodge turbos are dangerous. I had a 89' Shelby Daytona as my first project car. with a total of $3,000 in it with the car itself (car was $2500) I went into the 12's on street tires. it was fun and really cheap!
