Iat2/intercooler pump question.
Iat2/intercooler pump question.
Generally my iat2's are about 20-30 degrees above my iat1.
For example if its 70 degrees outside, my iat2's are generally around 95 to 100 degrees while cruising.
However it is currently roughly 30 degrees outside and if I drive around for awhile my iat2's will become about 80 degrees. This is a 50 degree difference instead of the usual 20-30 degree difference that I see.
Is this just how it is during the winter, or is my pump failing. I have methanol injection and my iat2's are generally pretty low. I think the highest I have ever seen was on a 100 degree day with a few back to back pulls resulting in 140's in the iat2's.
I need to tweak my tune a little bit, but later on I will post some scans from hptuners.
SHORT: Normal my iat2 is 20-30 degrees above iat1. Currently during winter with 30degree outside temps, my iat2 is 40-50 degrees above iat1.

Problem is I have the option b tank, and I have a cxracing heat exchanger etc. With all of that crap and the way its done, i can't see that neck where its supposed to be flowing through.
If so, you should be able to hear it. It is pretty loud when its going.
Another thing to do is look in the option b tank and you should see it moving in there, at least bubbling. If you don't see anything than it isn't working. Time to get a hammer and bang on it!
If you have HP Tuners just set the pump runtime to 0 soo it runs as soon as the key is in the on position. That is how I have mine, and you can hear the pump whining and running when you put the key to the on position. Check for flow if you can, and tap the pump a couple times if needed...
If your intercooler pump wasn't working... it'd be much worse IAT2's. I've had a pump fail on me before.
As for current IAT2's... mine is doing the same thing... and my pump is running... so you are good.

I do have hptuners and I can set the pump to 0. However will I be able to hear the pump over my fuel pump priming. It seems like the fuel pump is ridiculously loud. Or will the pump be running after the fuel pump primes before the car is turned on?
If that was confusing what I am saying is, will setting the intercooler pump option to 0 will turn the pump on without the car running?
Also, when I look into the option b tank, I don't see like a flow, but I do see little little tiny tiny tiny little bubbles lol. It's not like its moving much though.
This is going to sound really dumb too, but where is the intercooler pump. I am going to tap it with a hammer, or a rubber mallet, either way to get the shavings out. But I am not sure where its located. Can someone post a pic of it to make it a little easier on me.
Thanks guys.
USMC - Thanks bro. I figured it was working because my iat2's usually stay pretty low when at wot and even with back to back to back wot runs. However I thought maybe the meth injection was just masking it. I am just not used to seeing the iat2's being over 20-30 degrees above the iat1's.
I will double check everything to make sure, and give more information later on. Anyone know anything about DFCO with hptuners?

Great, well then this thread can be ended for the mean time until I can check it. I need to upload a new tune and change my timing a little bit and mess with my dfco settings. Hptuners is so much fun, i <3 it.
Thanks for the information guys, and so quick for the morning time!
I will be back later on with information about my iat2's. Thanks again guys.

In HPTuners... you can set it so that when you turn your key to "ACC" (Accessory Mode - turns on the radio... its the first stop past OFF)... you pump turns on.
I've got my car set-up so that the Pump and Fans come on while in ACC mode... that way I can circulate my fluid and cool off my Intercooler/Manifold while my car sits in the staging lanes. (If you do this, remember to keep an eye on your battery... it'll only last an hour or so).
SO, by turning your pump to the on position, just to check it, you should be able to hear it running or hear the fluid gargling without the rumble of the engine interfering.

Ahhhh ok. Gotcha I wasn't sure what ACC mode was, but I get it now. Ya that's what we were saying above. I am going to try that later on today when it warms up a little bit and after I have had my morning coffee. I will let you guys know how it goes.
Thanks again everyone.

you put on the opt B and a new heat exchanger and don't know where your pump is?
