An idea, stick with stock tune/injectors at 4,500' w/ Stage II?

So the car stock is running pig rich, and with my altitude I'm only running 10 PSI.

I bought the Stage II kit to help get my PSI up.

I'm contemplating just putting on the pulley and belt and seeing how she does with the stock injectors. The car runs so dang rich now that I'm thinking that running at 12 13 PSI should be fine.

Of course I'll have to test it with a wide band.

So why did you wast all that money on a new reflash and injectors when you could have just spent about 150 and got a pulley and belt?

Wow , I thought GM had specific pcm calibrations for the high altitude areas of the US .

If it works well, I'll just resell the kit with a new pulley/belt. Gosh!

I don't think the Stage II has a specific calibration for elevation, the install manual just lists year and if its a Cobalt or Ion.

Being at high altitude sucks some times but it sucks even more for every body else who is just NA.

Or for somebody that actually knows what they are talking about.

Is it not just additional fuel with the S.II reflash or do we get more aggressive timing as well? You guys that have the SII reflash, compared to stock did it feel snappier with quicker revs and a faster throttle response?

Thanks!

The PCM is pretty darn advanced and can easily compensate for your altitude. There is a baro sensor to reference the ambient pressure. 10 PSI isn't exactly unusually for the stock setup.

I'm sure it is but maybe I can keep the computer from keeping it too rich by adding more boost. As in, I max out the fuel/timing tabels that they computer has for my density altitude.

Anyone with a stage II that can report on the stage II tuen compared to stock? My car runs really rich now, is it going to worse with the stage II?

I'm really hoping for more timing and some more aggressive air/fuel ratios.
