I will see if I can get some pictures. It really is easy, the hardest part is disconnecting the electrical connector from the TB.

I'm not sure on a 2.0 engine but here's the steps for a 2.2 or 2.4.

disconnect negative battery terminal using deep socket or something

Remove part of intake closest to engine. There is screw under the giant black baffle that loosens a clamp.

Remove the electrical clip on the TB. This is done by moving the grey or white C-clip to the side then sliding a small flat screw driver between the clip and the holder on the TB. That's a bad explanation without pics.

There are 4 10mm (i think) bolts that hold the TB to the intake manifold. Remove them

Once free clean and reverse steps

well guys indeed it did work idle is much better now with and without a/c, i don't know if its abnormal but its idling around 1500rpm and it stays their and when the a/c is on drop almost to 1000rpm but other than that pretty good. I didn't disconnect the negative battery terminal and i don't know if thats really necessary or not ? but so far so good.

Same here, I did it and my car idled 100% better!:D

PS. I just cleaned it with some methanol. Didn't see any need to need in buying the cleaner.

the yellow arrows show where the bolts to take off the tb are (there are 4)
the white arrow shows on which side most of the crud will be (at leat it was on mine)
there will be a black cable attached to where the red arrow is pointing, its just cliped on used screwdriveer to unclip.
the "crud" looks something like the stuff thats in the SC in the pict (the black stuff)

i didnt disconnect the connector from the throttle body because it was too diffucult so i just cleaned it in the engine bay

Subscribed. Mine is misfiring at idle & threw the P0300 code recently. Think this will help or is that a whole different problem? I'm taking it into the dealership thursday & I might try this if it's still misfiring afterwards.

i have a minor occurance of this but also my cruise control doesnt work wtf i think it needs to be flashed but still i mean come on.

as long as you're careful, you don't need to disconnect your wiring.....just put a rag under the TB while you're spraying to protect everything around it. I couldn't disconnect mine and this is how I dealt with the problem.

for those of you having hard times disconnecting the wire, keep in mind there is a little clamp that pops off first. I believe it is blue colored and in the shape of a U

How do I get this post STICKIED??? I feel so good that I was able to help out many of you other balt owners out there. Gives me a great sense of satisfaction especially since the fix isnt hard at all. I am newer to this site and I will post pics of my car soon on here after my oil catch tank is installed.

what did u use to clean the TB?

and i threw a p0300 code the other day which is a cylinder misfire and all my plugs are fine. i am getting different ones however, but could the debris i found in the TB possibley be the reason i threw that code?

i just used water, a damp towel and elbow grease. mine was REALLY guncky.

got it to look brand new... cant begin to tell u what a difference it made.

u think it could be why i have misfires at idle? and why i threw that code>?

and any advice on how to get the little electrical plug off cause its a pain in the ass

not sure abt the misfire. doubt it... but couldnt hurt to try.... clean ur TB and reset ur codes by disconnecting ur battery for 15 min.

to take the electrical plug off you need to take the little plastic clip on the plug off first.. or pull it out, i forgot...

this should be move to general cobalt and stickyed for sure...

will do. i turned the code off with my interceptor and let the car run for 30 minutes and no cel popped up but i was running 2 steps colder plugs and i only need 1 step colder plugs so i am going to just wait for my other plugs they should be here 2morow.
