Theres atleast 2 people that blow there engines in cobalts everyday. goodluck atleast you will only have to waste money on parts and not to build it.

the only way the piston would smack the head is if something in the rotating assmebly let loose.
wrist pin, rod cap, broken rod. or the crank snapped.
if a rod snapped, you'd have a hole. if a wrist pin broke, you're cylinder walls would be trashed. and a hole.
if the crank snapped, you'd have ocean front property.

I'm really sorry to hear that man. All those custom parts down the drain, what a shame. Don't feel too bad though because my Integra's motor has to be rebuilt as well. Not nearly as bad as yours, but considering I just put a new-used motor in it right before I left, it's a shame. Good luck with the new motor whether it be stock or a built one.

It's because kids with no experience are attempting to build them. If you've never even heard of plasti-gauge then how do you know where your bearing clearances were? Or did you just tighten them and say yup it's good.
In your video you say an attempted launch and someone needs an LSD. You can launch a car just fine without and LSD. The LSD helps keep both wheels spinning around a corner. I have no LSD in my car and I can show you every burnout I've ever done, any tire warm up at the track, any patches I've laid (there's many right here out front of the shop)...that both tires are gloriously moving in unison.
Also, when you hit the rev limiter...you're supposed to shift ;-) That's where your motor went. Did you even properly seat the rings?

and ive never heard of a plasti-gauge sorry? used Brand New stock bearings on the rods.
used brand new rod bolts tourqed them to gm specs
used brand new diamond pistons and stock rings. the stock rings is where i made my mistake and i did let them reseat cause i honed the walls
and it wasnt even a ******* launch paul put it up as that i was just trying to see what i could do with the newly installed turbo kit and it was from before i even rebuilt the motor
and yeah it is and i am pissed and even more pissed that someone would call me out and say i made a mistake when i didnt
I think piston number 4 let go and the bolts off the bottom of the rod either stripped or stretched themselfs and let it hit the head causeing either the headgasket to go or the head to crack and or warp

damn man.
dont **** with a man when he's down.
But anyway man, if your block is toast. I'll bring the other block to my house and I'll build it right in my garage for ya. Keep me posted on the damage. I'd roll out there, but I just got home from the upstate meet and I'm exhausted and sunburnt to ****.
