Question I'm in a pickle

so just the other day i got a Vibrant header & catless Vibrant downpipe, which finishes my exhaust system after already having custom 2.5 inch piping with no resonator, & a cheap 80 dollar flowmaster muffler. It already sounded deep but not loud, but as soon as i put the new header/dp on, it sounded like complete crap, probably worse than the worst sounding civic i've ever heard. its super raspy. It almost sounds like the inside of the muffler is rattling, but it also sounds like its coming from the area of where the resonator would be(mid-length) i know its not the header or dp..

I have my stock 2.5 inch piping & stock muffler sitting in the garage...

help me out here, should i try going with a magnaflow or borla muffler & leave it at that?

i dont care if its louder than it used to be, i just dont want the ricey raspy part of it...

Let's see. LSJ, 2 1/2 inch, catless DP, cheap muffler. Yupp, rasp.

Either get a catted DP, or a resonator.

Get a resonator and a good muffler. It'll heal what ails ya.

Loud = rasp IMO

I put a catless downpipe on. Sounded like crap. Immediately ordered 3 days of pickle tickle. Now my car sounds great!

I actually ran two resonators. I still want a high flow cat too. It's still ***** loud, but no more rasp!

high flow cat

What would be the performance gains of catless over highflow.. 2 hp? 3 hp?
Not worth the raspy.

Aftermarket catalytic converters are garbage. They shell out ridiculously fast. The only real difference is in backpressure. Maybe a couple horsepower.

I had the same problem. Put resi back on, put a cat on, then get a dynomax super turbo muffler.

There's a handful of dyno tests that showed 1 hp and even less. The standard is 1-2 hp I assume. Not worth it. But I have a pacesetter and the exhaust depot dp comes catless with a resonator. It sounded like **** for about two weeks. I assume the resonator broke in or something cause it sounds better now
