im so lost.
im so lost.
when i take the car for a 2nd gear pull (from 4k to 7k) it pulls pretty normal till about 5500 rpms then it starts to sputter and bog and it sounds like the engine is gonna pop. also i look at my mechanical boost gauge and it will spike from the normal 20 lbs to 25-28 lbs as soon as i hits close to 6k. it wont even make it to 6500, well it might bit i get scared shitless since ive already blew it up once.. i have had it scanned by wicked2005ss and he said i was seein close to 7degrees of knock. im gapping my plugs (bkr7e) now and puttin them back in.. i have had them at .035.. anyone out there ever had similar problems?? any help would be awesome!

check the cat... if u have a catalic coverter.. i would check to make sure its not clogged.. check ur manfold and see if it glows red( if so than its ur cat clogged) everything ur listing points to a bad or clogged cat becasue if the extra boost and loss of power. take it off at the dp and see what happens when u get on the throttle if the boost is normal than u got a cloggged cat( punch it out/ cut it out and reweld somethin in its place weather it be a cat or a straight pipe).
Do Not Go Wot Like Nick Said Check Ur Exhaust Not Only The Cat But All The Way Through The Muffler . If You Find Nothing Clogged Make Sure You Have No Air In Your Cooling Lines . Cjeck Your Iats 2 . Do Not Drive It Like This You Will End Up Rebuilding It Again . What Cooling Mods Do You Have ?

i would say it is a cat or somethin in the muffeler/ resonator pipe fell out and is blockin or restricting the exhaust path... First i would start off with the cat( most common) most likely runnin as rich as u said u are its the cat... but could also posably be somethng elce ( i would guess exhaust related). that much pressure in the IM= Blow UP. so definatly be safe and i would say ur best bet is to check for rattels in the rest of ur catback and make sure nothing is loose in there or cloged up in there and if not than i would just knock out the cat.
also air will still flow through it but u have to think of when u get on it how much more air is being pushed through it than a shop vack( boost) hense the supercharger lol. i dont know of any way of testing the cat other than drivnin it hard and lookin at ur manfold and even then idk if a vibrant would get hot enough to turn red.

thats what i was going to ask. hopefully he has some
actually.. ur gonna hate this answer.. lol i have none! i was running a zex wet kit but i took it off.. i have ran the 2.6, 60's setup for awhile without any cooling mods and there hasnt been any issue like this before
i already cutout the resonater because i had the same problem as about 23,049 other ppl have had with their corsa resonator so that only leaves the cat or muffler.. ur def right about the shopvac thing lol.. maybe ill just bust the guts outta it n see if that helps.. i doubt the vibrant would glow red tho.. im really tryin to stay away from cutting the cat out and welding a pipe in its place.. so this pretty much boils down to a cat issue?
thanks for all the help so far! does anyone else have any suggestions?? anyone ever had this same problem??

I think regardless of whats causing the issue you should defenetly get some dam cooling mods especially with a dam 2.6 and 60,s !!!!!!!!! If you dont your iats will be to high and you will lose power instead of gaining
do u guys think that the knock im gettin is because of the high iat2's? i just dont understand how it just only acts up when im around 5500 rpms and not the whole time...but then again as soon as i smack the throttle i hit 20lbs and ya obviously the higher in the rpm range i go, the higher boost it puts out.. and the fact that my car just feels like it wants to explode gets me.. maybe it just starts pulling alot of timing or something?

Holy ****.
190* Iat2 means your probably having pre-detonation, which means the mixture is igniting before it gets into the cylinder. DO NOT floor it. You will break something.
The high boosting is probably from the cat going bad.
*shakes head*
Read that post people.. come on... Read the thread... He answered his own questions on to why his car isnt running right.

ya hptuners was reading my iat2s around 190 after a few hard pulls.. i have no cooling mods anymore becasue i took my wet zex kit off.. ive ran it with this setup for about a year or so.. how would the muffler clog up if it was a "straight thru" design like corsa says? but i do agree that it seems like it would be an exhaust issue because air is comin in and just sittin there and not coming out..

190 degree iat2's points to a bad intercooler pump, however a 2.6 without any cooling mods will do that. I don't think there would be any pre detonation though. It still sounds like a clogged cat to me, or something clogged in the exhaust.
lol, is there NO air coming out of your exhaust?
I noticed that but that doesn't always point to pre-detonation. It could just be the tune in general making the knock. I don't think the iat2's are his problem, I think its something else. I mean on his 1st pull he wouldn't be seeing anything above about 150 tops. So if he is seeing the boost spike, like 28lbs it points to a restriction in the exhaust somewhere, aka the cat.

Yea. I deffinatly think that is a problem.
Good point on the IATs.
Im going to say the cat.
Im still wondering about the pre-det.

I wish I would have joined the dark side a long time ago lol. I agree with ya red, he needs some cooling mods and or possibly a new ic pump. If your going to push the blower that hard you gotta get some cooling mods. The ecu will pull timing if setup correctly when your iat2's are that high, just depends on your tuner and what he has it set for.
One of the 06blacks (or area) ran the 2.5 with no cooling mods.
you dont NEED meth.
But he should really have it.
The dark side is VERY fun...
The s20g has awesome mid range... It only takes a spit second for that lag to go away.

lol tom did it too, aka wicked. No one says its impossible to do lol it just isn't "smart" if you push the car hard.
edit: "it only takes a SPIT second for that lag to go away" spit lol @ you. theheh
