I'm sorry, I have to ask..

***I already searched and read most all of the relating topics and I know this has been a common occurrence***

Hey guys I recently got my new ss s/c. Unfortunately, the car was new with 400 some odd miles on it. I drove the car nicely until i reached 1,000 miles, then i started to give it some ****. On my second quick acceleration I noticed that my rpm's sticking in the same spot after i shifted gears, then eventually they would kick back down and would continue accelerating. I'm pissed because to me, this means i am slipping. I did this a few more times and it did something similar each time. Afterwards I didn't smell any clutch burning up, and I was just wondering what your thoughts were on this. Is it my clutch slipping even though I can't smell any burning? I know what a burning clutch smells like. This happened in both second and third gear each of the times. Is there any other way I can find out if it is slipping and not my retardedness in driving my new car. By the way, I have been driving stick for 4 years and never experienced this before, although my old car didn't have as much hp/tq as this car does.

I know this topic has been discussed many times, and I have read almost ever clutch problem post, but it would be nice to have specific personal responses to my situation.

I guess what I am looking for is maybe a response describing what happened to you when (if) your clutch started to slip. What did it sound like, look like, smell like... I want to know this so I can determine if it is actually slipping or if it is just my retardedness (which im pretty positive it is not).

All responses welcome...and thanks in advance.

Mine does it too when I bring it close to redline and shift quick... My opinion and a few of my friends (they are mechanics) is that the the hydralics on the clutch suck.

I have had it slip twice as I could smell clutch all the way down the track.

Why not? If its off the dealer, it could have been a demo car, or, it could just be a leftover 05, or an 06 that has been on a few test drives, and had a salesperson take it home. Most "new" cars on the lot have a few miles on them. I got my 05 SS/SC with 2980 miles on it a month ago, and got a hell of a deal on it. (You can't get a base model for what I paid for this car) However, like you said, thats your opinion.

So anyways, is this something to worry about or do you guys think it is the slave cylindar and I shouldn't worry? If so is there something I can have the dealer do about it?

Well I would say if your worried about it now have them look at it. This way if there are other problems down the road you already have a history started on the car.

when I first started driving my car my clutch did this too......i figured out that i wasnt supposed to be easing off the clutch when Im trying to hammer it. Thats not what your doing is it? When going from 1st to 2nd just hit the cluch , shift, then just let the clutch go free as fast as possible. Mine hasnt done it since..... i promise dude i know exactly what your car is doing....it pissed me off too.

400 miles when new could've also been a dealer trade and was driven from dealer A to dealer B... Bought a truck taht was new.. still in plastic, and had 430 on it.

or it could have been the one the dealer owner let his son take to the beach for the weekend....... and still try to sell it to me for way too much. since his teenage son would never beat on a car that wasn't his.

nope it was traded once or twice before hand you are right...i told the dealer i bought it from that it was fine as long as they didnt give me any **** when it came to the warentee. so far, so good, they have been awesome.

Thanks for the reassurance badboy...ill keep that in mind when shifting. Like i said before, my other car didn't have the performance this one does.
