If it's electric, then where does it draw it's power?

Is there some 'magical' power supply for my power steering unit?

IT COMES FROM THE ENGINE!!! AND BY DOING SO IT DRAINS HORSEPOWER!!!

it draws power the same way everyhting else in the car does, the battery/ alternator. everything else in the car is still gonna use power from the battery and the alternator will keep working. u will gain practically no power and its really not worth it to drive around w/out power steering

Where does the alternator get it's power from? Is there some magical supply of electricity to the car?

THE ALTERNATOR AND EVERY DEVICE ON YOUR CAR THAT REQUIRES SOME SORT OF POWER OR ELECTRICITY...GET THAT POWER OR ELECTRICITY FROM THE ENGINE.

So, keeping any sort of device on WILL REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY AVAILABLE TO MAKE YOUR CAR GO FAST.

This is called the Law of Thermodynamics...and you can't break it.

Unhook the alternator, that's the only thing drawing power off the motor on your car. also unhook your supercharger, those rob WAY too much power, especially with a smaller pulley.

Pardon my French **** ass but you have to be about the most god damn stupid person i have ever met, not because you dont know what the **** your talking about, but the fact your trying to sound smart when we started off trying to drop you non subtle hints you are going about this wrong... this aint no ******* Golf cart

where does the power come from, your altentator... your motor creates torque which goes through your driveline.. it doesnt create ******* electricity that is distributed around the car.... Altenator is a belt accessory which creates a charge which in turn maintians your battery levels and feeds power to your car.. REMOVING a god damn fuse is just going to cut power to that part of the car, that does not create LESS DRAG on the belt line.. jesus ******* christ do you really think pulling a fuse will decrease the amount of power its going to turn the drive line..
your job for today

1. Login to Css.net and delete your account
2. drive to the local Ammo shop and pick up a Desert Eagle
3. Place gun in mouth and pull trigger
4. Save the world from another future gene pool disaster

I was hoping someone here had an answer, but I'm obviously wasting my time. I'll call my GM service person.
Go to a dyno, get your chart, then pull the fuse and get another chart. That's the only way you're going to find out.

You'd be better off removing the motor off the column, you'd save more weight, suckers heavy, and then pull the fuse so it doesnt see the motor missing.

If youe thinking its going to get you a little then put it back in to drive home, your stacking hairs in the wrong place.

If you say lighten as much as possible, I wanna see pics of a gutted interior, no radio, no speakers, and a lightweight racing seat.

Trying to get the n-th degree of HP from a fully functional car is absolutly pointless.

Also good way to burn your bridges before you even get started, if you think a GM service person is going to have the answer. There are a lot more people and a lot more knowledge on here than you will ever find at a dealership.
So next time take it with a grain of salt and powe your question in a manner that doesn't portray you as a cocky jerk, and you'll find the answer amonst the ones that dont know but feel the need to post anyways.

To those that can't seem to be bothered with finding factual information and just like to ad fuel to the fire.

Either help explain why its wrong or incorrect, ignore it, or shut the hell up.
