Injen CAI

I installed my Injen cold air intake yesterday (04/02/2006) with minor fitment problems. It would not fit correctly using the rubber vibra-mount that came with the unit. With the vibra-mount installed the air filter was pushing into the bumper. The QC date on the box was 02/22/06 #4. I replaced the vibra-mount with a half inch nylon washer behind the mounting bracket. Other then that it went pretty smooth. It took me about one hour. Looks much better then that black plastic tube under the hood. No CEL yet. The horsepower gain is very noticeable. I purchased the unit form Turbo Tech Racing last week.

Looks like the fitment issues are finally gone, well atleast the major ones. Let us know if you have any questions.

NOPE !!

I had the same fitment issues also & I'm looking into a replacement tube now! i'd really been pissed if I had removed the bumper & got everything mounted & then could not get the bumper on right because of the filter pushing it out as I had enough problems with it!

I am disapointed in the way this thing fits as it's rubbing the hood strut bar bracket & the bolt behind the headlight & plus it pushes the inner fender well twards the tire. I feel there was some poor engineering behind this CAI as I have installed 3 other units 2 were Injens on a Eclipse & one was Air Aid on my Tahoe & they all bolted right on where they were supose to & didn't rub anything.

Injen & Turbo Racing have been great to work with as there replacing the tube & all but dam for $220 it should fit like a glove

Did you read the first two posts on this thread and the many others around the forum on this "revised Injen intake" ? Sounds to me like it still has fitment issues that are totally unacceptable especially after trying to revise it. If i were Injen I would be totally embarrassed. For $220.00 they should be 100% problem free, and if it was I'd have one on my car right now.

You don't have to remove the front bumper! Take the wheel-well plastic out. Turn your tire or take it off, and it'll go in. There is NO need to remove the bumper.

You'll get the new pipe, so there shouldn't be any fitment issues.

Does anyone with the CAI drive their car in the rain? I want to drive my car, but it's been nothing but rain since yesterday and won't stop till after tomorrow. I know there's cause for concern, but I'm just wondering because the filter's housed in there pretty good...

PS - NOT driving my car tomorrow; too many damn deep puddles for my taste.

it's still a super tight fit. I put padding in key places to so the intake doesnt get scratched.

Same thing happened with my new injen intake. I just ditched that rubber thread piece and put some washers on the screw thats on our car and then put the intake over that

I will say the customer service is second to none at TTR as I ordered my Injen 2 weeks ago & installed it 2 days after ordering it & Aron worked with we on the fitment issues & yes there are some & Injen is replacing my Intake as the QT date is feb 28 2006 #4 (polished) & is a bad unit.

I really say kudoos to Injen and TTR for standing behind there product & offering me a replacement as I still feel if this unit is made for my 2005 Cobalt it should fit with NO hitchs so it should not rub, push or mount without the rubber bumper if it's part of the mounting hardware period..

I want to order other upgrades & I will fill fine ordering from TTR as I know if there is a problem they will take care of it but in the same idea I'd like to be sure what I order will be the right part for my car and fit

I love the intake it makes my STG 2 worth every penny as it was the icing on the cake & I'm sure I will be happier when the new tube comes & fits with out rubbing the hood support & the bolt behind the headlight or pushing out on the fender well!

Yes,I drive in the rain here in Charleston. There are no problems what-so-ever. Just make sure your plastic wheel-well piece stays intact. Mine broke or somone was trying to steal my intake, and the filter was exposed for a few days. I just went a bought a new piece, and all was well.

Cool, I figured it was a little less dire than Injen makes it out to be.

Update information on my Injen CAI. Now that it has been installed for a month I thought I would let everyone know how it was going. Since the install I have had to make adjustments twice. Wear the CAI fits into the rubber duct it seems to slip there and needs to be readjusted. I have also had to put strips of Teflon sheet in several places where the intake keeps rubbing against the frame and bolt. Hopefully this will prevent any damage to the intake. Maybe there is too much engine movement to keep it mounted into the proper location. And I have had no problems driving with it in the rain.

yeah i got a CEL. mine just wen in today and i didnt use the vibramount cause it wouldnt fit the filter in or the nut so i stuck a washer in behind it thats like a quarter inch so it wouldnt rub. but it wont fit into the plastic mount to the throttle body either, it kinda pulls out and its a pain in the ass, my s/c screams now but i dont notice too much "ass in seat" hp, but there is a slight improvement. im just wondering how i could get a CEL? if anyone knows help me out. (oh and for the pre-install guys, just take off the wheel and the plastic around it and ull be fine, no bumper removal necessary)

I'm just going to have my Dealership install mine when they install the Stg 2 kit. (If they will). Hopefully the reflash will not make me get a CEL

I have also driven in the rain alot since here in Iowa it has rained for the last week & It's still raining and I have nad no problems

I have noticed a little hesitation leaving the parking lot from work & I think I just need to let the engine warm up a bit before driving off & that could be due to the STG2 also so I'm not sure ?
