Inspection Issues

So I need to get my car inspected. I put an exhaust on my car, stock header, Hahn 3" DP and Hahn 3" cat-back. Naturally this throws a cel 0420 code. I had my buddy with hp tuners turn off the code any everything. He said this will get me passed on emission. He used to have an redline and used this to get him passed. My question is, will this work? Or is there something else I need to do. I could get my car tuned but I still have stock injectors and pulley and I don;t want to waste 400 dollars.

As long as he shut the code off by changing the error reporting to 0-No Error Reported you will be okay. If he just turned the light off then the code will pull up when they scan your car for emmissions.

you might be fine. Depends on the place you take it too. It will def pass the computer emissions but PA has visual too. If someone actually looks at the bootom and checks out the exhaust and doesnt see a cat, they can and will fail you. Just take it somewhere that has, younger guys doing inspections. Honestly take it over to strauss auto on william penn Hwy in bethlehem, its all youngs guys there, so most of them could care less as long as it passes the computer check which it will.

I used to know people at that store and they were good guys

well it has a hi-flow cat on it, so if you look under you will see a cat. It's not a milk jug like stock, but there is still a small one there. I take mine to nazareth chevy brown-daub. I know the guys there and there fairly young so they shouldn;t have a problem.

I live in NY and when we do inspections, if you have any CEL on you need to erase the codes and drive the vehicle for like 50 miles otherwise it will not pass. The new inspection machines can pick up that the car had a CEL and the codes were erased. I dunno if PA is the same or not but thats what happens in NY. Otherwise like everyone else is saying you should be ok. Id put some miles on it after youerased the codes just to be sure so you dont go paying for the inspection twice. JMO.

its not that the scanner can still see the codes, its that all the systems need to reinitialize again. It take a little bit but some driving around and everything is all good. If you fail you dont have to pay twice either, you have a certain amount of days to come back and get rechecked for free.
