Installed My ZZP H/E, Review

Well my zzp h/e came yesterday it only took like four days from the time i ordered it for it to get here which wasnt bad. Let me say first that the quality is really good overall but the fitment of the brackets that are welded on leaves a lot to be desired. I was originally planning on running it inline with the stock h/e but after a long pain in the ass process of taking the whole front of the car apart and hooking up the new h/e inline with the stock and refilling and priming the system i discovered that while removing the little squeeze clamps that are like glued and stitched onto the factory heater tubing that i had managed to somehow crack one of the welds in the factory h/e i guess by tugging on it too hard. Anyway, after removing the factory h/e and correcting the tubing, i fired it back up and everything was good to go. At that point i thought all i had left to do was the put the front fascia back on and the headlights back in... well turns out that the two brackets on the new h/e where the two little black studs go through along with through the two little tabs on the fascia into the bumper were like an inch too low so after like an hour of tryin to manipulate the other two brackets to make the other two fit i just said **** it and took out my cutoff wheel and ground those bitches off flat... Then everything went back together fine. heres some pics..

here is a pic of the two tabs that absolutely would not ****** line up and i cut those bitches off..

i went out and drove around about an hour or so and then i ran out third at wot and iat2's didnt get above 140 which is way better than i used to see (like 165). I am sure i could have taken the whole h/e back off and fucked with the top two brackets that bolt into the crash bar a lot more and maybe ground out the holes and made it all work but the two crashbar bolts hold it really steady by themselves so i didnt think it was necessary.

its bolt on but you will need to manipulate the brackets a little by bending...

how is the supercharger reacting to the h \ e. Is it boosting faster and does it feel quicker.

congrats on your purchase! The increase in IAT's is well worth it as you can tell.

the h/e doesn't make the supercharger boost faster and he probably doesn't feel a difference when he is only seeing like 25degree IAT difference. But he would be able to tell a difference in trap speed at the track.

I was gonna order this one but it seems that ZZP was very busy with other things. Lots of people were complaining and such... I'll be getting their dual pass end plate tho. I got the small CX racing h/e instead. ^^^Following ralliartist's lead with the cooling mod thing...

I saw it installed on our 06 and I don't know what year your car is but I think it's on wrong. I'm going to have a tech look at the pics. The tabs should line up perfect and the unit should fill the entire front of the grill. Yours looks like it's hanging like an inch low.

well i triple checked the pics on the zzp website while i was installing it and made sure i was doing it right....and since it came with absolutely no form of directions i would suggest that as an add on perhaps for future customers.... i dont have it installed backwards because the brackets were within like a half inch of fitting but after about an hour of messing with the other two brackets to get the bumper to clear i just said **** it and took them off there.

Mine came in yesterday, the fins look exactly like yours. I was getting ready to install it tomorrow, but I think I will wait till Zoomer gets his tech to check it out. Guess I shouldn't even ask how long it takes to install, since you had to mess with the brackets. I was hoping it would just bolt up without fitment issues.

probly 2 or three hours tops depending on how good your mechanical skills are because those factory hose clamps and hoses are no ****** joke man them bitches are on there tight... i finally had to take a box cutter and cut both ends while i had them clamped open with vice grips and they finally came off there... and in the process i managed to somehow break one of the welds on the stock h/e and had to remove it which i wasnt planning on doing but oh well this new h/e was designed as a replacement anyways...

my 2 fins that go straight up were at an angle...but i could bend them by arm to fit...no biggie at all...probably just bent in shipping. Everything fit fine for me...the two top fins bolt on to the bolts on the crash bar, and the two lower fins line up witht he holes in the crash bar for the screw/plastic thingy that holds the bumper in place. Mine was a perfect fit. I'll get pictures as soon as i get my camera. BTW, it looks beautiful ZZP...great job!

Subscribed.....I'm looking to install this over this weekend or next weekend. Anything special for purging....i.e getting air out?

Also why didn't ZZP come up with installation instructions for this product?

well i have the hatrickstu filler neck mod as you can see in the pics so it wasnt hard for me to purge the air out.. but if you are using the stock filler neck its gonna be a pain in the ass to get the air completely out of the system for you... and yea they definitely should include a schematic with the product...

Yes I had bought the zzp because I thought it would be the least hassle to install.....now I'm wondering if I should just do the dual-pass endplate and send this thing back....
