Intake and Exhaust

Alright...I think i've pretty much settled on the gmpp performance exhaust because i can't justify spending 7 franklins on a single outlet exhaust....but....

About those CAI's...

Is there really any REAL difference between the K&N typhoon or the AEM? or any of the other brands for that matter? I wouldn't by a home-made intake from pepe's muffler shop...but at the same time...are the prices for these intakes primarily based on the name alone? I mean for all intents and purposes...most intakes are the same...the main difference being the quality of the filter. So...i guess what i'm asking is: when it comes to the intakes...is it really worth spending the extra money on an Injen as opposed to the K&N?

Also...the gmpp cai listed on this website: http://www.chevrolet.com/cobalt/accessories ...does anyone know who makes it? is it strictly a gm/ac delco performance part? or is it made by like K&N or something?

Thanks to all

No no real dff. I'm guessing you have a 2.2/2.4 since you posted the gmpp intake. It's all a personal call. Some poele will probably chime in with their prefernce. I have a 2.0, hope a 2.2/2.4 person gives you a lil help.

Oh no no no....no 2.2 for me... i probably should have mentioned i have an ss/sc. i see your point...the gmpp site only says that intake is for the 2.2/2.4. Will those CEL problems still exist with the ss/sc? i haven't heard of anyone with a K&N or an AEM having problems on their ss/sc...but that could be because i'm still fairly new to the cobalt universe.

well I may as well go record some footage of just the intake before I get my exhaust installed so look forward to it. I can have it finished easily by tonight if I get the time to do it

I have the K&N CAI and I love it. Great sounding and could feel a difference when it was installed. It did throw CEL's for me, but after I got my stage 2 with the reflash, I haven't had a problem since.

on a 2.0, please just do air box mod unless you REALLY want a shiney pipe. The stock air IS a cai.
