intake, hydrolock
looking for an intkae. So far the aem is more then likely the one i will get for two reasons.
1. Most dealer friendly
2. Least cel's
The only other thing that scars me is hydro lock. CAI seem to be at risk for such things. I have seen these black wraps on some filter here on the boards. Do these help with protection ? are they the k&n ones for the snowmobils ?
What are my other options ? I really want an intake for the added couple hp's, and of course the awesome sound. Any other options ? Do they make a short ram for the 07 ss s/c ? Is it counter productive, since it might suck up hot air ?

Injen. Injen doesn't throw CEL's,a nd intakes can't void your warranty. The problem has to be caused by, and the dealer has to prove it so, the intake. You don't have to worry about hydrolock really. The fender lining should protect it enough unless you go through a puddle taht comes up to your headlights. A short ram for the 2.0L's isn't currnetly avaliable, nor coudl is ee it becoming avaliable.
the only way you'll get hydrolock is if you drive into a huge puddle. Be careful when you drive thru huge puddles, so that 1. you dont make a huge ass splash, 2. the intake doesnt get submerged in the water.
I have the AEM on mine and I have had some troubles. This winter it got wet during a thaw somehow then re froze, the car would start and idle but fall but wouldn't go more than 10 km/h. I had to take it over to a buddies and take the filter out and thaw it (was covered in ice). Also after every major rain storm the car will hesitate at high rpm for a day or a half day until the intake completely dries out. I had a cell when for the winter incident which went away immediately after thawing the intake, but other than that I have never had any cell's
I hear that the k&n typhoon intake have the best fitment. So they come with a hydro shield ? What is it like ?
top notch.
no cels. ever. not even for a split second. (aem filter helps this, oiled filters FTL)
fitament is really good. even comes with some rubber protectors to put on all the areas where the intake may contact metal.
hydroshield is great. I feel much better having it on there.

And you went with the dry filter through aem right ?
Good charger whine with the k&n ?
i think the key to no CELs is disconnecting the battery before operating. i have a K&N typhoon and it came with the filter cover. works great to keep extra dirt and little particles outta the filter while not affecting airflow at all. ive had the k&n for about a month no probs. and very VERy good fitment. id def go with it.

um, no
i didn't do this, disconnect the battery. the computer is an adaptive object. you don't have to kill it's power source. besides, it still retains memory
air box mod!!!!! intakes are noise makers on our cars they do very little unless you have a lot of mods. The plastic on the bottom of the car is plenty protection for your filter just as long as it doesnt get submerged. Oh and itd the cheapest why pay over a 100 bucks for the same pipe except its metal and a filter?
