I want to get an intake, im looking at the injen which was refered to me from another member of the site. A few of my friends r tellin me that i shouldnt get it because if i run over a puddle water could get sucked through into my engine, what are the chances of this happening, i live in nyc any in the North east hear of problems like that?

ok newb. if you use the SEARCH function you won't have to make new threads in the ADVANCED performance section. Or better yet, you won't have to make a thread at all. This is a very worn out topic.
Here is a very QUICK search that should answer all your questions about Intakes.
Keywords = Which Intake

Wow. No wonder people hate to start threads. It's comments like that that are stupid. The guy has a question, a legitimate question, and you rip his head off. The guy is obviously new to the site with only 12 posts. Easy already. They are trying to learn just like you did when you entered the site. If you don't like the thread then don't go into and comment on it. It's just that easy.

I'm not trying to rip his head off. but he clearly didn't read any rules or do any searches before he posted, which would have been even easier than just posting a question in the wrong section. I think we can all agree that I contribute quite a bit to the forum.
That is at the top of this section. Don't know how anyone could miss it.

maybe I did, but I don't remember. I know I use the Search A LOT because I am always looking for the cheapest mod with the biggest result. Every mod I've done has been thought about for weeks and months on end before I bought it. I'm a very strategic thinker. And I did help him out by being a leader, lol. I posted a crap load of results and then I posted the rules for this particular section illustrating that he posted this topic in the wrong section.
sorry to come off harsh. It's just that seeing the same threads regenerate day after day starts to get old and annoying. I do a lot searching and find a TON of answers. this forum as well as the redline forums contains TONS of knowledge.
I've had an Injen on my 05 SC/SS for years without a hydro sheild, I live just outside Pitts
and have never had a problem with this intake! Yes I drive in the rain and have gone through some pretty deep puddles.
I also have one on my 07 SC/SS.
Watch out for rubbing where the tube goes through the inner fender, some have had a problem here, if you don't adjust the tube just right when you install, it will rub a hole in the tube.
Pull the wheel well skirt to install, very easy!

Coming from a guy with an Injen.....
Really, intakes are all about the same. They're all pieces of aluminum with couplers and a filter on the end. If your buying from a reputable brand like AEM, Injen, Fujita or K&N, they'll all be basically the same and will yield you the same results, or results close enough you would never know the difference. Everyone is gonna say what they have is the "best". But I highly doubt anyone has personally tried every intake out there on their car with dyno #'s and stuff to go along with it. If a 2.2, 2.4 and 2.0 owner all go buy alllll the intakes for their cars, test them in identical conditions and come back with results, that'll be the only way you know "what's best". Otherwise, its just an opinion.
My AEM gets the job done well enough and that's all that matters to me.

yea it's not hard at all.. takes probably about an hour though if i remeber right.. theres a nice how-to on it in the how-to section which takes you along step-by-step.. the longest part is takin the wheel well off and puttin it back on.. it can be kind of a PIA but other than that it's simple
