intake wrap

ok i used the search, diddnt help much at all.

anywho, wrapping intakes, iv talked to a few people and had 2 different sides ( i talked to more then 2 people lol). some say ya you can , personally seen drag cars and some brands of intakes make make-shift wraps, GTI comes to mind. but what i want is something like this http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0002_249878_-1

but heres the other side. one mechanic said that using a product like that will actually conduct heat inside the intake and create problems. i want a tightly wrapped intake for more then the heat savings aspect. mainly to prevent the intake rubbing any more as most of the ss/sc people know about. so if any one has an idea, or product to use that would be greatly appreciated.

the problem with it is it does hold moisture in against the pipe. its not as big a deal with aluminum as it wont rot through. the big thing with our cars is the big heat gain is the supercharger, really no purpose to the heat wrap.

the race stuf you are seeing uses big air to air or air to water intercoolers and they are trying to keep the already chilled air cold.

you can drive for hours, and the intake is cool to the touch. no need to heat wrap.

The only reason I saw someone wrap their SS/SC intake is too keep it from rubbing on the ECU...

Other than that... no real performance gains....

im not lookin for any performance gains, really to keep the tube from rubbing a bigger hole then what it is already, where the intake pipe goes through that hole into the inner fender, cause i already got a slit and want something to plug and keep it from getting bigger
