Interceptor questions

I thinking of picking an an interceptor since they can monitor many things other gauges can't. It seems like many people have had problems with them not working right after a few months, or not working at all. I've also heard of case one guy fried his BCM a few days after putting one it, but that could be totally coincidental. Has the quality of these gauges greatly increased since they were fist introduced for the LSJs? Has anyone here had any problems wih thiers?

i know the first models of the interceptors were faulty. I think they would stop working after a while, but they introduced a new model that also has a shift light that fixed those problems I believe. Easiest way to tell is by the light.

Yeah I knew they came out with a newer version? Do they still have the Red Line or SS specific startup screens on the newer models, or is it one gauge for all kinds of GMs?

they have redline models, SS models, and then the base cobalt (probably ion as well) model. make sure you buy the right one. the diff between the redline and the SS is totally appearance, but the diff between the 2.0 models and the 2.2 models is a big one...effectively making a 2.0 not work on the 2.2 and likewise the other way around

mine turn off randomly and leave an orange line across the screen.
this usually happens in the cold weather.
i searched and apparently its due to the fact that some of our cars have voltage surges causing the gauges to do this.
a few others have had this happen to them.
other than that thought mine work as they should.

With respect to the firmware... can't you send your gauges to Aeroforce and get them re flashed with the latest firmware, get the logo changed, or even change the units?

never had a problem with mine EXCEPT that time the dealer told me the gauge fried my BCM (yea. i'm that guy) but they couldnt prove it, and still didnt cover it under warranty. they just needed an excuse to not pay for it. but i have a new one now and it's been working great for about 5 months

It looks like the new interceptors are also the same models used for camaros, suburbans, and a lot of other GMs. Do they still measure the same parameters as the RL and SS specific gauges did? How do you select the different logos? Is there a Saturn or Red Line logo you can choose?

Does the newer version interceptors get their 12v power from the ODBII port? I thought I saw a while back Aeroforce was going to fix it where the gauge recived the power from the port instead of a true 12v source.

Which ones do you all think are esy to read in both day and night? I'm looking at either the black & red or black & white display.

This is all good to read. I plan on picking up a pair shortly. It would be nice to just plug into the obd2, mount the gauges and be done with it.

ive owned 2 over the course of the last year.

neither ever had issues. wonderful gauges, being able to monitor all those things is invaluable.

So what all are you using for the power source? I was thinking of using the add-a-circuit fuse things, and run it off something like the sunroof fuse. Is anyone else using the fuses for power, does it supply enough power contastanly?
