Post Intercooler

I have been looking for an intercooler for my 2005 cobalt SS and have not came across one on any website. I was looking through http://cobalt-addiction.com/rides.htm and I clicked on "rides", I looked at the girls car that is shown on it. I noticed that she had an intercooler or something that appeared to be an intercooler. I have been trying to find an intercooler for my car, I was not sure if they produced intercoolers for supercharged engines but it appears a company does. If you know of any intercoolers or can identify what that is in the pictures and tell me I would be very appreciative and interested in purchasing it, if you can find where one is located.

Well i was going to pull one of those "Silly rabbit, our cars have "intercoolers" stock" posts but after looking at the pictures I see your point. It's possible that its a heat exhanger that closer to the front bumper and not sandwiched between the radiator and condensor as our stock ones are. I can't seem to get a good look at it so I can't really answer you but I'm curious now as well.

NOOOOOOO........PUTTING A FMIC DOESN'T DO ANYTHING FOR THE LAST TIME! EITHER THAT ONE IS FAKE OR JUST A WASTE OF SPACE!!!

If you want to do ANYTHING that looks like FMIC, you need a heat exchanger

The Cobalt SS HE will be out middle to end of august. I am prototyping and am still measuring everything out from Mark. Our shop in Aurora, Illinois will be a dealer of the HE's for the Redline and the Cobalt SS!!!

after having some questions about using an actual air-to-air intercooler in conjunction with the stock setup, i think we're going to try it this weekend on my car. my friend happens to have an extra intercooler, we'r enot sure if it will fit, and we will probably end up using dryer hose as a temporary hookup for the intake.

we'll get some pics and video of it... i know alot of people say it won't work, but hell we got plenty of zipties and an intercooler.... no reason not to try it

so the fact that when my iat1 temps are about ten degrees cooler, my iat2 temps are about 10 degrees cooler, means nothing huh?

i know it's not going to supercool the air, but what if it drops the iat2's even 30 degrees? the stock setup on a third gear pull ran up to 164 degrees.. there's no way it can do any worse

It just dosn't make sennce!! seriously!! just stop and think for a second...

You are pulling in ambiant air, and trying to cool it with.. ambaint air.

It dosn't work!! It's like trying to cool off one hand, with your other that is the same temp. All your going to do as add a restriction.. bad idea people!

What mods do you have because you don't live far from me so you know the humidity around here, after driving hard for a long time I have hit over 200 degrees...if you actually read my signature I have hit 300 degrees...

Also, tell me what the point is of cooling air a simple ten degrees BEFORE the s/c? It is after the s/c where the temps need dropped. My goal is to get the IAT2 below the IAT1, which will hopefully be possible with the LFP HE, LFP Ice Box with dry ice and DEI Chiller Charger.

Also, how is cooling the IAT1 ten degrees going to cool the IAT2 down 30 degrees? You're being serious? It does nothing, plain and simple. For the air to have to pass through a intercooler, you are causing the airflow to be distorted...we're not turbo charged...the s/c will suck in the air, so why slow it down from getting there? Seriously, the whole point of an intake system in general is a smooth flowing system to get the air into the s/c without anything distorting it.

uhh read it again, i said when the ambient air is ten degrees cooler, so is the iat2's. if you know anyone with an intercooler and it only cools their intake temps down ten degrees, they might want to get someone to take a look at it for them

Don't see the word ambient in there at all...ambient is the outside surrounding air so if it is 90, thats your ambient air temp. So how are you going to chill the air 10 degrees BEFORE it even enters the intake? Once it enters the intake and your intercooler it isn't ambient air anymore. I would actually like to be there to see this set up...also, I'd still like to see how cooling the air a couple degrees in the intake will cool the air in the supercharger...10 degrees colder flowing into something revolving hundreds of times a minute generating so much heat...?

Go ahead and use a intercooler and let us know your results of the IAT2 in the same conditions, drive for a while on the highway, then hook up your intercooler and do it again for same amount of time in the same conditions and report back. While I'll hook something up in the same location in which I'll be cooling the IAT2s around 30 degrees...

Yeah. but to be honest and fair to selfinfliction, is this air to air intercooler set up you have really for a supercharger ONLY application? Not for a twincharge or swap to turbocharge application. With the cost of piping, I'd hate seeing him spend a lot of dough for something that is not going to do a darn thing...and I never even met the guy!
