Intercooler pump

OK I am looking for a CHEAP way to lower my IAT2 temps. At this time, I cannot afford a larger heat exchanger, or water injection, so I have to settle for "free mods"

Anyways, if the key of our car is turned to the ON position, but the vehicle isn't running, will the intercooler pump run? If not, how could I control the i/c pump using a toggle switch? (So I can turn it on while the engine is off) I know that I would have to tap into the power to the i/c pump, but I don't know how.

Also, how could I do the same thing with the electric fans?

Any other ideas are also appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the I/C pump comes on with the key to ON position.

As for the cooling fans, can't you do that with hptuners?

the fans won't really help any except when sitting still at a red light or something. might help a tad bit if you run the a/c while staging and turn it off once you hit the line

IC pump wont turn on unless car is running. If you have HPTuners you can turn them on with the key on only. Jump the IC pump relay with a jumper wire or put a toggle switch inline. Jump the 30 to 87 terminals on the IC pump relay.

Under the hood. Black box on right hand side with red positive post on it. Take the lid off and there is a fuse and relay diagram underneath.

make sure your toggle switch (if you plan on using one) is lighted. Nothign worse than leavin git on and coming back to a dead battery.

i would have no clue on how to hook up a 2nd h/e

if you hook up a toggle for the i/c pump and the fans, will they still automatically turn on when needed? or will i have to always control it manually

You will have to turn them on manually. The main benefit of fan and IC pump switches is for faster cool downs in between runs at the track. It can help with the heatsoak alot. These switches aren't going to help any during normal driving conditions. The only thing that will work in normal driving conditions and not under wide open throttle, is the 2cnd heat exchanger. The water injection helps alot, but it's not spraying unless you're accelerating pretty harsh.

can't you set the w/i to spray at whatever variables you wish????

and i know that the fans/ic pump relayed isn't gonna lower the temps while driving..i just want them to lower the iat2 temps while in between runs at the track

Yes, you can spray at whatever variables you wish, but the car will bog. I had my settings to where it came on a little too soon, and it went "full blast" a little to soon, and it would cause the car to bog under parth throttle conditions.

Having the switches will work great in between runs at the track.
