intercooler water squirter?

This might be a dumb question, but I saw that the evo's have a button that sprays the intercooler with water. I assume that this cools the temp even more, but I am just guessing. Can someone explain this and would this be beneficial on the ss/sc balts?

Won't really help with our Water to Air heat exchanger. Water injection now would help you out.

That technology has been used in alot of various cars and performance staged kits. As stated above its usually made to spray from the windshield wiper fluid resevoir.

Does it help? In theory it should. Are you going to notice/feel a difference? probably not. If you have a gauge to monitor the IAT's you should see it dip down a few degrees.

Nos, NX, and Cryo2 (i think thats the name of the company) makes a kit that sprays co2 or n20 on the intercooler (or heat exchanger). We've had locals on our dyno with the "intercooler sprayer" set up from Nos and have seen anywhere from 5-15hp across the board.

Will it work on the cobalt? I'm not sure. Maybe some one who has it could chime in.

If cooler IAT's (air) is what you want I would look into h20/meth injection along with a dual pass, and heat exchanger before the intercooler sprayer as its been proven countless times with cobalts to work.

Just my 2 cents...

it will deff work... just not as much as an air to air intercooler... it will drop the temps i would think no more then 5 degrees... and i would not suggest the use of co2.. if you get a fogger that puts out alot of co2 then it can get sucked into your intake and choke your car

if you wanna spray cold water on it while your at the track, sure go ahead, it wouldnt hurt. your not gonna feel or see any difference, only something a wideband MIGHT pick up.

your gonna spend most likely more money on "intercooler spray system" than a meth injection system, and at which a meth set-up would be greatly more beneficial for iats. of course ours is air-liquid cooled, spraying co2 or n2o its just gonna give the air cooling the h/e liquid a little more kick, all in which a alcohol injection system to your intake will do 50 times better. but if you got the money, go for it. its your car man, i think they look cool seeing that on the front mount

Awesome! Going to have to try it out on a locals car one of these days. Havent had any experience with any of the heat exhanger sprayers on cobalts yet...

I'm not a big fan of the co2 sprayers either, was just trying to elaborate on the available kits out there with sprayers.

As said several times above, when I said water I was talking about Meth/Water Injection. You will see far more effect from this than any heat exchanger fogger system, I'm willing to bet at least one order of magnitude difference in effect.

(If your wondering, that means x10 more effective)

water meth injection will deff work alot better and it is a better bang for the buck... but for h.e squrters that will work..but you can not go and stage and spray water on your h/e... the track officals wont like that lol.. you wouldhave to use nitrous to get the most coolingeffect... and yes it will help drop temps... but as said it will not nearly be as good as water/meth injection
