Interesting situation

So, I spent the evening/night de-modding my car and swapping some of the parts to steve's, but I have an interesting issue now. I took off the ZZP H/DP combo and put a stock LSJ header on and the stock 2.2 downpipe on. The car is RIDICULOUSLY slower (good products, dayum), which isnt an issue.

However, whenever i go WOT, i instantaneously smell fuel. Not unburnt fuel like a fuel leak, but fuel like im driving behind a cat-less car running 10.5:1 AFR. The only thing that makes sense to me is that I have an exhaust leak, but everything sounds fine. Its much quieter than it was before....so what gives? also, since I removed my header/DP, i no longer have a bung for the wideband, so i cant check my AFRs. My tune is entirely MAF based, so i dont see how it would be running any richer now than it was before? Its also instantly there upon WOT...i smell it before the RPMs even get 1,000rpm higher.

Any ideas?

The only thing I would think it would be would be an exhaust leak.

My flex pipe is leaking like crazy and I smell gas every time I am in my car... Ugh... So pissed...

2.2 dp bottlenecked the system. You lost a good flowing header/dp, which now essentially backs up the flow, restricting the amount of air the engine can pump out. Same amount of fuel is being delivered, with less airflow. You are pig rich! At least, that's how I see it. Can't explain the smell though, unless theres a leak.

but since my tune is MAF based, less airflow out means less airflow in, which means less airflow past the MAF, which means the tune should be compensating for the lower amount of airflow by reducing fuel. IDK...i was thinking this myself, but my above explanation kind of conflicts with it..so im not sure.
edit: didnt expect a response this late....lol

Idk, this seemed to be the explaination I found when changing header/dp without tuning for it. I then saw it on my 2.4sc, which was maf based tune, by going from stock header/dp to zzp, which leaned out roughly 1/2 a point on the wideband at WOT. Meh, someone will explain it I'm sure haha.

lol, if you are running the same fuel, then your car is all out of whack. You need a new tune man. lmfao

did you reuse the same gasket or get a new one, tighten up the factory manifold from inward out, etc? If you are smelling it then it is most likely a leak at the manifold.
