JBP poly urethane control arm bushings

i just bought a pair of these control arm bushings an hour ago from JBPs store.

im trying to eliminate the wheel hop off my car and tighten the suspension considerably. after what wesmanw02 said about the jerky 1st gear, I figured i'd try to eliminate the problem with polyurethane mounts and bushings.

ill be installing these shortly in the garage and will let you know how well they work.

Thumbs up

Im buying all three just got comfirmation they fit RL also!

I think

Engine mount
Tranny mount
Suspension bushing

springs
strut bar
and some 16's w/ b/f good rich drag radials will be good for the track

along with stage 3 clutch and flywheel

... and stage 2

phoo what troublesome install, but all in all worth it! So with both the engine mount and control arm poly bushings, I can't get wheel hop. The thing just hooks!! Totally impressed with these products. w00t jbp.

OK bear with me on this one. What all would you recommend putting on the car? I've heard so many different mounts and bushing and torque braces and everything else getting tossed around in threads...and how many of each? Sorry if that's a stupid question, but I don't know what has more than one mount and what doesn't. I've never dealt with this kind of stuff before, I came from a 2.2 pre-Ecotec Cavy so there really wasn't a need for any of it but like others have said I'd like to stiffen up the SS/SC a bit more.

I wouldn't recommend the motor mount alone, it doesn't get rid of much wheel hop...at least for me. It more or less makes shifting feel firmer and smoother.

Well wheel hop isn't really my concern, smoothing everything out is more my concern. Like's been mentioned before, the car is VERY jerky through first and even into second when you're on/off the throttle, plus there's a lot of torque steer. Even smoothing out the shifting will help on the auto-x track. That's mostly what I'm looking for, smooth the shifts (although now that I've mastered the tranny, I can shift pretty smoothly on my own), lessen the torque steer, and get rid of the jerkiness that the car seems to have.

If Auto-X is what you're into, then the poly bushings will help out the most since they are directly involved w/ the control arms. It'll help w/ the torque steer and with wheel hop...probably in a much more noticeable way than the motor mount/ tranny mount (provided you only could purchase one of the three).

Would there be a benefit to all 3?

The LSD corrects wheel SPIN, wheel hop will actually get somewhat worse with the LSD vs with no LSD. It will do nothing for torque steer.

so would a good set up a be tranny mount, motor mount and the control arm poly bushings, that should be enough to eliminate most of the wheel hop and not have to worry about the car being too stiff?

well guys, i always try to beat whatever someone tells me. the instructions said 40 minutes to install the bushings per side. I managed to double that because I love to take my time and look at other stuff while im under there. but im sure I could've banged it out in 30 minutes. the instructions were pretty darned accurate.

someone wanted a link: http://www.jbodyperformance.com/new/...genName=Cobalt

Did you have to order 2 of these control arm bushings or are they sold in pairs ?

Also how much added vibration are you receiving in the cab ?

you need 10. two for the car and 8 to chuck at the people you dont like. jokes, you only need 2. i noticed a difference in vibration at low RPMs. I kinda like it. Handling and wheel hop are pretty wicked, you definately notice a difference.

Had a chance to check these out yesterday, they look great, keep in mind that they are custom precision made and they have to be made to a certain quality in order to be sold to us and last a long time. Good work JBP
