K&N CAI CEL update
K&N CAI CEL update
I have had the CAI on the car since there was 200 miles on the clock, The Cel po171 came on after 40 or so miles then off again every once in a while then back on. Well after 2600 miles on the clock it went off last week and even after 2 fuel fillups it seems to be staying off. I just wanted to share this with others having cel issues with the CAI. The pcm GM uses in the cobalt is a learning pcm and though it took a while I think it has learned that the CAI stays and that it better get used to it
hmm.. that's awesome. I may have to re think my CAI purchase. I was sold on the Injen just for the fact of the non-CEL issue but I have always had my heart stuck on the K&N. Just always thought K&N was a great brand and makes excellent intakes for domestic's. Not saying that Injen is not good because they make great products as well. What's crazy is that I don't even have a CAI and my car still throws a CEL. Not often but every once in a while. A couple days ago it was like 10 degrees here in Buffalo and the CEL came on as I was driving into work on friday and it just went off last night

It'll come back on. Just give it some time. Im throwin the P0171 code and im completely stock. It first came on with about 6000 miles on the car and now i have almost 23,000 and it still comes on occasionally. I've had it to the dealer numerous times and theyve even reprogrammed my ECU and the cel still comes on. So dont get to excited.
Its somethign with a lean reading due to cold weather I think. The stock sensor nees to be updated to allow a higher voltage I think...maybe it was frequency..not sure. We had another thread on it somewhere. Its something that needs to be adjusted via HPT
Hey, you know you guys can just go to any dealership and get a reflash for this? I posted about this awhile ago and no one read it. I told them I had the P0171 from my K&N Typhoon and the service writer told me they had a reflash for it. My car had 32,000 on it so it was covered under warranty no questions asked and no CEL since. Illinois dealerships really don't jack you around like they do elsewhere and tell you they are going to void your warranty and refuse to fix things.
FUJITA... never had a cell..
it went off one time for about 2 days.. then i realised one of the clamps were loose causing air to be sucked in behind the maf unit causing odd readings.. tightened down.. never had problem since.. been on the car for over 12k miles and no cels

I've had my Injen CAI for about 2,000 miles. CEL came on afer the first 50 or so miles. Tried disconnecting battery terminal to reset PCM but the light came back on the next day... Will the dealership bitch at me to reflash my PCM? That light is so annoying...
