K&N DROP-IN CEL or NO CEL

Anyone know if using the proper K&N Drop-In in the stock air box will throw a CEL?

I had a drop in for a few months and never had a CEL.

I had the modern performance modified drop in.

I'd spring for the CAI Typhoon instead if I were you (which I'm running by the way). From what I've heard, the factory air filter provides quite a bit of airflow so you aren't going to realize too many gains from the Drop-in. I've had my K&N for about 2 months now and only 1 CEL for running too lean, it was cleared out and hasn't come back since. CAI also looks sleek regardless of which brand you decide to go with.

I cannot stand the way CAI's look. The stock air filter is a Donaldson filter so it cleans and flows very good but it also muffles some S/C noise. I figured a K&N would help make a little noise.

That and then i can add a line to my sig

Not only a little more noise, but you simply get better airflow than stock filter. You ever look at the paper element? Its freakin solid/thick paper. K&N filters are so much better.

I'm up to about 5 cels with my K&N CAI. I'm thinking about scraping it and going back to the stock intake.

How much noise is picked up over stock with just a K&N filter?

Not a whole lot from stock...but it's noticeable. However, coming from a cai, it's going to be a church mouse to you.
