K&N intake installed

Picked up the intake from Modern Performance today..great group of people!

Anywho, install went nice and smooth...here are some pics:

It makes the blower SO much louder...it's crazy! Only problem is my CEL light is on...I'm probably an idiot....I'll have to check it tomorrow. I didn't get on it too much because the CEL was on, but you can definitely tell there is a gain in power. ( Edit: Now I know why it's on after reading SHWC's post lol)

Oh, I also picked up the DC Strut tower brace too! Looks nice and corners better now too...unless it's placebo effect haha.

Very nice, can you please post pics of the intake from the top of the engine after install? That would be great thanks. I also plan on going with the DC strut bar, I've had them on all my cars (front and rear) and they definitely prevent body roll and improve cornering dramatically.

Keep up the good work!

Congrats man! How much did the K&N cost you? I'm looking around for a CAI and I've used K&N before, they are really nice. A top view of the engine bay would be nice.

Looks impressive. Does K&N guarantee that this will not throw a code? Is the included filter element cleaned and oiled the same as other K&N filters.

No, the intake should replace the stock airbox.

for tofu

yeah i had to think about why the CEL was on too because i mean, there is no way anyone can mess this up. BTW i'm the guy that was there at the dyno testing at Carboy with Modern. alright man later, i hope the screws will fix the problem. remeber to disconnect the battery for a while. then if there is still a CEL then just drive it around for a little bit, then turn the car off for a little bit then it should be alright. it made me mad when i got that CEL but once it came off, i smile everytime i hear the supercharger. oh yeah, tofu, i think i saw you yesterday on the beltway right before westheimer at the toll plaza. i was on the phone with my friend and i was like "A blue SS!" alright well later man

Looks good! I have a question since you mentioned it earlier, where did you pick up the DC Strut tower brace? How easy is the install?

I got it from Modern Performance, and install was a breeze...like 10 minutes including getting a coke.

haha, yeah that was me on the way back from Modern..got the screws fixed and all, and the CEL turned off less tha 10 min after re-connecting the battery. So thanks again. I remember you from the leading edge event, that was pretty cool...anyway, we'll have to hit up some car meets or something, hope you enjoy the blower whine...cuz I sure am lol.

For those of us poor people living in the northeast who haven't seen the sun in 8 or so days... what kind of problems could we run into using the K&N CIA? Especial when we hit the unexpected 6+ inch puddle that basically washes over the car. If the stock air box is remove the only thing keeping the water out of the intake in the Wheel Well plastic?

Thanks,
Rich

Been driving in this crap all week on 195. I have not had any problem at all. I have a K&N installed with the lower lid removed. As long as you stay out of deep puddles and not try any stream crossings, you should be ok.

And if you DO hit one of those car drenching puddles, dont hit the gas, lay off of it for a second or two. Just so that the bulk of the water has a chance to escape.

You will only hydro lock the engine if the filter is submerged and you hit the gas...
