yep...it would be good if you live in a place with excessive humidity/moisture in the air I would suppose...like florida. But it's pulling from the fender so unless you're in 2 feet of water you shouldn't be boned...but if you're in 2 feet of water you have other things to worry about than your engine.
It reduces flow. Now what you really need to be 100% safe is the aem bypass valve not a filter cover.

Deffinatly doenst mess with the flow, try blowing inside of it and it wont blow up like a balloon, cause it wont hold pressure meaning it doesnt restrict. I was weary of that as well but it didnt seem too do too much.

No NEED, just ran the car throught 2000kms and about 700kms through a 3 hour down pour in Que WOT at parts and she ran best kind with my AEM CAI.
oh and aem bypass valve doesn't work on forced induction cars.

Should've read...it would remain open at all times and reduce intake flow. Hmmm...maybe for the 2.2's and 2.4's then.
Hydro shields are very cheap insurance for what they do. I wouldn't run my AEM CAI without one . I pulled it off recently and it had a ton of bugs and other road grime stuck to it but the filter underneath was perfect.
I have a hydro sheild for my K&N CAI and it runs great, but i think the people that need this for there filter the most are the ones who are not running oiled filters... Because if you have an oiled filter your chances of getting water through the filter are alot smaller since oil repels water, so i would suggest people who have a dry filter to get one, they are the ones that need it the most IMO.
I had a CAI with the Dryflow for two years no problem, until I drove in a really bad down pour hit a deep puddle and next thing you know misfire. Needless to say I bought one the next day. Is it worth it? I think so.

Exactly....which is what you want to avoid.. You don't want the water to get absorbed, you want it to repel... If the filter absorbs the water THEN you get less air flow=less power. And if its absorbed then you have a better chance of getting water in.
