i have a 2007 cobalt SS/SC, i bought the K&N intake for it, it was for a 06 i think , but it should be the same. turns out the top piping touchs the cars computer and the filter buldges out the fender well a little, still drivable. the filter points straight down, and i cant get the screws that hook the bottom plastic of the wheel well to go on around the edge of the lip. like everything is held up , ok for now, but whats going on. there cant be that much of a differance from 06 to 07, i was going to take it back , but the guys like no we dont do returns cause i thought it would be the same for the 07, guess not. so anyone have suggestions, or does anyone wanna buy a K&N intake for a 06 cobalt since it looks like it doesn't fit on the 07. very disapointed right now. thanks guys, brad

 

keep messing with the fitment. try different angles.

 

06 will fit an 07 I promise.

 

I have it in my 07SS/SC, and it does slightly rub the computer, and the brake lines, but I just covered the intake with some rubber in the two places it rubs, and now it seems fine.

I have no problem with fender bulge or anything like that, so you can get it mounted on a different angle to make it better.

lol sounds so simple. i tried so hard today to fins different angles. before i had a rubber piece up top i have this nice scrape on it. but like i said nothing went back together underneith without force, could ppl with it in there 07s post pics pls. on mine the filter turns straight down, it looks like the filter should have been mounted so it sits on its side, mine face down. i looked at one of the pics of the intake in a thread here, is that how its looks like, cause like i said the piping on mine turns down. . i'll try tot get pics tomorrow, way to frustrated and tired to take things apart and post pics. thx, guys

 

it will fit but its close u just have to screw with it. I asked K&N directly when I bought mine if it would fit my 07 and they said it will but not nicely. The 07 blower sits up slightly higher and has a slightly different neck curvature which is the problem

 

bump, really want to fix this, it bugging me soooo much, oyeah im in canada , the intake shouldnt be different right, cause like i said mine faces straight down and this one in the pick looks like the filter would be on its side a little. ya i also use bike tire tube to wrap around the bottom of the intake when it goes down through the fender.

and everything went back together, all screws at the bottom, everything in mine is under stress right now, i did try to move it more, but i guess i will try more tomorrow. all the filters should be the same size right? my filter looks like the same size at my old injen on my other car but maybe i could get a smaller filter. but then it will cost more money. this kinda sucks, i will try more tomorrow. i also dont have the Z piece hardware on holding it. so its hovering.

that one goes straight at the end, mine turns downward, could this be a bad batch or something, cause this would not even fit your cars if u tryed, i will post pics.

Anyone with K&N intake in there 2007 SS/SC please post pics and if u could take out you headlight to get better inside pics that would be much appreciated. cause i need to know if your intakes are straight end or curved end like mine. thx, brad

 

Well... Looking at it, I'll say its not normal since I've seen it in person and tried playing around with it and we still couldn't get it to fit ... I'll say keep in touch with K&N about this one and see what happens thru their customer care line.

i just got a new K&N intake, installed at robs, but found it wasnt sitting right, and could not get the bracket on. the filter was buldging out the fender well and pushing at the bottom of it. so i tried to bend the bracket, but it wouldnt bend the way i wanted it to and it would take me all day to make it perfect so i used this flexible metal bracket stuff. i also use it to hold robs cap in place at the top cause his top mounting bracket melted somehow. anywho the bracket was a success. i used bike tire tube to wrap around the intake where it goes into the fender as the K&N rubber falls right off. i also used some at the top where the ecu is, but i took and long peice and turned it inside out so its doubles then zap straped it so i know its not going anywhere. anywho here are some pics.

 

I have the same K&N also and love it, I could have found it a little cheaper on ebay, but I wanted a valid warranty so I got it at here. K&N 69-4516TS, or you can try one of the vendors on the forum here, you can usually find a good deal that way as well. This was very easy to install and I love it.
