Yes the system was purged and recharged with r134 and we added an extra 1/4 lb coolant. I have dual FMIC's and yes I let the car sit and idle, I have been playing around trying to get results out of it for days now. As far as too much fluid, that should really only take longer to cool down then and for a system that claims 50 deg ait temp drops in minutes I'd hope after 30 min of idling the temp would drop more then 2 deg. I also know the limp mode was unrelated, just a shitty way to end the day.

It's way too much coolant. Until you get rid of one of those heat exchangers and possibly lower the amount of plumbing you have, the KC is not going to work right.

Ehh, I'm with Flatgod on this - he let it idle for 30 minutes, even with a bunch of extra coolant it should have been pretty damn cold after that if it was working right. The weird part is, if it's hooked up right and your AC is working fine, the only thing that could be causing issues is the freon/coolant block, which doesn't make any sense.

Flatgod - have you contacted the manufacturer?

Ya I'm in contact with Joe Kincaid and we're trying to figure it out. I'm not saying that Killer Chiller is bullshit, just that mine is not working for some reason.

the kc should be the last heat exchanger before running to the intake mani. if not you will heat up the coolant again. esp if the stock he is after it that thing is a heat sandwich if your ac is on.

Ya it is the last stop before the LIM. The stock HE was removed long before the KC install.

Joe Kincaid says the more intercooler fluid the better the system will work. His stock heat exchanger is removed so it is not being re-heated by the AC condensor. We will get it figured out. We only added 2 ounces more of R134A.

Dexcool 50/50. I was told straight water could freeze in the system. This is on the backburner again. When I find the time I'll get this system working right.

Alrighty, finally got back to tinkering with the KC unit. Added 2 more ounces of r-134a and that definitely made a difference. Drove around for a half hour and when I checked the temp of the fluid in the option b tank it was 4*C below ambient. That might not sound like a **** load but keep in mind that is the temp after going through the LIM and both the HE's which at that point would actually be heating the fluid back up. So now to start seeing the real potential of the KC I'm going to have to insulate and cover both my HE's so they don't start bringing heat back into the fluid. The coolant line going out of the KC unit and into the LIM also was covered in condensation which is also a good sign.

Any news on the temps you are seeing with it?

You should try using just the KC unit alone without the FMIC's. Just to rule out the possibility.

If possible, be sure to post the suggested stock amount of r-134a and the total amount of r-134a used for future reference for folks to use. If you get this figured out, I will more than likely buy one.

what are your AC pressures?

without a set of gauges on it you are guessing

also you may consider logging the AC pressure PID in HPT for your comparison of IAT2 improvements

As of right now I have 17 oz of r134a. There was no guess work it was done by a gm tech with a fully automated machine. I'm not gonna post much on Ait2 right this instant cause I only took it for one short drive. Yes my ait 2's were sub ait 1's to the tune of 5-7 deg for that drive but I'd hardly take that as hard evidence plus I know it can be better once I cover the HE's.

Well I removed the ZZP S3 HE because it works too good at drawing heat into the system and now I'm only running on the Large CXR HE. Now after a pull the AIT2's drop to 6* above ait1's and I still haven't covered and insulated the HE yet. On a pull the AIT's are nearly the same the only diff is it takes a little longer to cool down due to the loss of fluid capacity.
