Lighter crank pulley?
Lighter crank pulley?
I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive option to gain a few horses, and add to future potential. Do you guys think a lighter crank pulley is a good idea? They run about 165 from sites I'm looking at. I'm also wondering what immediate power gains I could expect from the pulley. thanks.
Search around. These pulleys have proven to be bad and cause crank seal oil leaks and other bad things.
What HTC app did you use to 'dyno' you're car. Some of those apps are pretty neat. I have a HTC but it's Windows Mobile, so that might be a Android app..

I didn't use the app. My bro did it one day while he drove it. He has the HTC Hero I believe.
That's funny tho. That part of my sig doesn't show up for me. It just shows the picture on my screen...
And also, the pulley I was looking at is the MRZ performance lightweight crank pulley. It says it has a special center ring that's designed so that it won't cause oil leaks in the future. But I dunno whether or not I want to trust that.

OK Cool. I believe the MRZ crank pulley is the one that caused all the problems before. I believe it had something to do with the softer metal type of the pulley. They might have fixed it? Either way I wouldn't trust it, as it simply isn't worth the gains or the possible headaches.
Look at the people making the most power... I have never seen one of them having the need to run a lighter crank pulley. Seems like a gimmick...

the hardened metal ring was the fixz for the seal leaks,
the issue is it is not a harmonic damper...so there are chances for bottom end damage such as crank walk with this pulley
not to mention increased sensitivity to false knock retard

Great to know. I knew it was something like this, but I stopped following it a long time ago. Thanks Vaughn!
no prob Cory...on some cars you can get away with pullies and they make small gains but really help revs...but on ecotecs (and other dampened crank pulleys) better/safer gains can be had
for race motor..i say do it, for a street car, leave alone
i feel the same applies to lightwieght flywheels

Nobody called you a 'retard'. Knock Retard. KR. This isn't specific to LSJ's but read this...
